Total overreaction to Martinez's performance.

  1. I can't believe the flak Martinez is getting for that performance. He was in against a taller, undefeated boxer with a good pedigree. Not every win can be a sparkling performance, but what he did do was expose Barker's Glass Ear.:rofl:patsch

This was a tough fight and not his best performance, but he is still one of the top fighters in the world. :deal

    Exactly.

When Barker was risk averse, Barker was outworked. When Barker decided to take risks, Barker got KO'd.

Oh - but he bloodied Martinez' nose. Whoop dee ****in doo.

The fight was even up to the 10th round. Not a good performance AT ALL.

I thought Barker fought his best performance and sergio didn't. Barker just isn't skilled enough to get the job done. He never really had sergio in any trouble. I wonder what the judges score cards were?

Thats because he struggled with a solid boxer like Barker who didn't quite improve enough or remain active enough to reach the level he should have done years ago. Barker was a solid solid fighter who would give a lot of guys trouble.

Martinez's resume speaks for itself, Williams x2 who was in the top 10 if not top 5 P4P, the ever-complicated but talented and dangerous Cintron, the MW champ in Pav and European stalwart and WBO LMW chief Dzinziruk.

Martinez's problem is that he doesn't have a **** load of people attached to his nuts who will defend him to the death like Mayweather has for his uninspiring performance versus de la Hoya and the way Pacquiao had for his befuddlement during the Mosley fight.

I think this fight has proved that Sergio has been overrated just a tad bit over the past year or so. The only reason why he's such a threat to the Mayweathers and Pacquiaos, is because of his size, and that's it. When it comes to skill and talent, he's nowhere near their level.

Barker done well, but Sergio, for the level he's been put up at (by himself and the fans), disappointed tonight.

Martinez lost at LEAST 4 rounds. He won the first two I think on harder shots. The next three rounds he was landing next to nothing of note and hitting gloves. Barker landed some good flush shots and outworked him. After that there was at least one more round that Barker won.
