:yep sergio took over in the second half of the fight, it worried me when he kept sticking to the low hands looking to counter style that resulted in barker winning rounds. In the second half he started to win rounds on activity till it stopped barker. The guy an be proud of his performance though, I thought he was going out early but he really made maravilla work for it.
Barker could have won from 3-5 rounds, there were a few close ones. One round I thought Barker won but Sergio rallied in the last 15 seconds and may have stole it. By my eyes he won AT LEAST 3, and AT MOST 5, so I'll say 4.
I had it 8-2 Martinez but I do see your point, Barker was landing more accurate punching but I thought he was way to inactive to win man y of the rounds, Martinez was sloppy but got enough through to edge for a lot of the rounds for me. If Barker had threw a few more I may have gave some of the rounds
I work for HBO, so I had it 900 trillion times infinity to negative infinity times 900 trillion for Martinez.
It was a close fight before the KO. Bad ending, Barker look like he just quit from blocked shots. Sad, as he was in the fight. I don't think Barker had the power to take out Martinez though, and looking at the scores he would have had to dominate the end of the fight to pull off a SD.
Lampley: What's the score Harold? Lederman: Jim, let me tell ya something. I've got it 900 trillion times infinity for Martinez, to negative infinity times 900 trillion for Barker. You gotta give Martinez an extra infinity points for the shoeshining in round 7, Jim. Lampley: I've got the exact same score, Harold, now that you've said it first. Lederman: LET ME TELL YA SOMETHING, JIM!!!
I had it 8-2 Martinez. Gave Barker rounds 3 and 4 and there were 2 really close rounds (5 and 9 iirc) that I gave the edge to Sergio in. So I could see people having it 6-4 SM at a stretch but no closer. Barker was blocking lots but not firing enough of his own and that which he did throw was thrown with no real power.
