I have the same feeling, it was Hernadez who initiated the second headbutt. The fight was stopped when Cunnigham becomes better and Hernandez seems to get in trouble.

First of all, Hernandez didn't quit. When the ref came to his corner to see if he could continue he didn't know what was going to happen and he didn't say anything. After the ref left his corner, Hernandez stood up from his stool ready to continue fighting. He was even puzzled when he saw that the ref stopped the fight. The decision was fair as it was Cunningham's fault for headbutting him and causing that cut. :-(

Hernandez clearly won the 1st and the 2nd rounds. Cunningham was given a big break by the ref's slow counting and by his corner pretending to dry his corner to give him more time to recuperate. The 3rd, 4th were very even, mostly blocked jabs from both sides and an occasional body shot from both. The 5th and 6th, Cunningham did better but Hernandez was also hitting him, so even if Cunningham won those they were still close.

The fight was stopped as Hernandez's cut was very bad and was not permitting him to see properly. The decision was fair cause Hernandez was ahead on the scorecards. That's the end, Hernandez is the new IBF World Champ!

I agree with the OP. Cunningham was robbed in the sense that he had completely figured Hernandez out, taken away his overhand left, and was dominating him for the last 7 or 8 minutes of the fight. USS was robbed because the fight was stopped at the perfect moment for Hernandez, even though there was no legitimate reason to stop the fight. A few rounds down the road, even the Sauerland judges would have had to give that fight to USS (one would think?).

The fight itself was close. I had it a draw at the time of the stoppage, with USS coming on strong.

The cuts were on the forehead and not a valid reason to stop the fight, IMO. If Hernandez wanted to quit, it should have been ruled a TKO against him for not willing to continue.

 

Take the Cuban colored glasses off. The first butt was clearly Hernandez's fault, and it opened the initial cut. The second cut was because Cunningham moved in after his jab, and Hernandez ducked forward at the same time.

 

He beat the 10 count from what I saw. Only question is the ref giving him those extra 2 or 3 seconds when he was already on his feet.

Blatant robbery if this is true. Can anyone confirm this? Apparently the doc admitted that he shouldn't have stopped the fight, but did so to save Hernandez! Is this for real?!?

When Troy Ross was leading on all score cards against Cunningham, then getting knocked down by Ross, Cunningham thumbed Ross in the eye, splitting his eyelid.

If the judges had deemed that thumb by Cunninham as a foul, it would have gone to the scorecards and Ross would have been World Champ!

Instead of being a man and a true champion and granting Ross the rematch, Cunningham has run scared!

Crazy things happen in Germany and I'm glad Cunningham lost his title!

He is a dirty fighter, head butting in this fight, thumbing in the Ross fight and is bad for boxing, not granting a rematch to Ross...a fight everyone wanted to see!

The stoppage was bull**** obviously but to be fair, Cunningham got rid of Troy Ross the same way.
