As a good indication that Toshiaki "Speed King" Nishioka's US debut was a huge success, Bob Arum said at the post fight presser that he wants Nishioka back in Vegas soon to face the likes of Nonito Donaire, Jorge Arce and Wilfredo Vazquez Jr, hoping Vegas to "become your second home."

Pretty positive words from the Bobfather, Toshi is one helluva champion who deserves world-wide attention, and Vegas is the place to get it. Here's hoping - and watching them perform, being convinced - that Roman Gonzalez and Yoshihiro Kamegai also get some of Top Rank's love, both are exciting fighters fans should watch, and made noise at the MGM Grand.

Altogether, despite sites like ESPN completely ignoring the event, this was a major step to bring the North American and Japanese boxing scene closer, and there's no shortage on Japanese titleholders (add Uchiyama, Ioka, Ao, Shimizu and the Kamedas).

I would like him to face Arce. Donaire IMO is too fresh for him...

I think Arum forgot that he's promoting Rigondeaux.

Nishioka-Donaire is 50-50, slight edge to Donaire.

    Heavy favorite over Arce.

    Slight favorite over WV2.

(although I'd favor Arce to beat WV2 again in a rematch...styles make fights...)

you don't think that WV2 has learned a lesson and that Arce is getting older?? I would bet on Vazquez myself

Nishi is up there in the age bracket. Don't know how much he has left. If he's gonna face anybody, he'd do well to face Arce or WVJ. Arce is old, and there is no telling as to how WVJ will react to his loss to Arce, as he took a beating in the last few rounds.

Vazquez took a beating in the last rounds of that fight. There is no telling what condition he would be in after that fight. Arce may have a phsycological edge on him after that fight.

That was my thinking. Arce seemed to just have his number, the same way Mijares had his.

I still think Vazquez can have a pretty high ceiling, as long as he doesn't pull an Andy Lee and obsess over redemption. (because Arce is no Vera).

    No way Nishioka/Donaire is 50/50.

Donaire is a class (or two) above the likes of Nishioka.

While it's the toughest fight, the sooner he fights Donaire, the better it is for the Speed King. Fighting Arce or WV2 next are winnable fights, but time's going to start diminishing Nishioka before it starts wearing on Donaire- if anything, Nonito's still getting better.

Maybe just fight one of those guys to build up a Donaire fight first, but I'd prefer if he fought Nonito straight away. It's an important fight- the more successful that is, the more likely we'll see other top Japanese fighters here.
