Cruiserweight Division (original heavies)

    Does the cruiserweight division suffer in popularity simply because of the name? Would it be more highly regarded if it was the 'Heavyweight' division?? Thus the Heavyweight division would have to be the 'Super' heavyweight division. "Cruiser" just doesn't follow any logic....a person is heavy or light for they're body type...wtf is a cruiser?

    To me, it seems this naming convention would follow that used by the other divisions. Cruiserweight has talent, names, and great fights to be made....just by changing the name to something more aesthetically pleasing to casual fans...could this become a glamor division?

    That could work, but then I suppose all the scrubs who haven't been able to make it at HW now will drop down and become multiple belt holders.

    I personally hate the division. If this idea where to happen they'd need to raise the limit to above 200lbs or there'd be no point.

    Light Heavy -175
    Jr Heavy -190
    Heavy -205
    SuperHeavy - 205+

    Surprised the sanctioning bodies haven't done something like this yet....all they care about is money anyways...more belts = more money

    I assume it would be 215 if it ever happened. 205 for a Superheavy is way too low?

    i was just going off the current gap between light and cruiser of 15 pounds

    so 175, 200, and 215 would be ok for light, jr, and heavy respectively...super heavy 215+

    although not a major authority the IBA has heavyweight at 210lb

    gap between 175 and 200 is 25, not 15

    I really like the cruiserweight division, i think its really underated. People say the heavyweight division of the 70s was better because they were quicker and more skillful boxers, but the modern cruiserweight division is like a heavyweight division of the 60s and 70s.
    But people just see them as failed heavyweights, no other division is viewed like that, welterweights arent viewed as failed middleweights.
    A cruiser is judged on his ability to move up, adamek and haye move up and their cruiserweight accompishments are forgotten.

    Leave it as it is. Like we really need more changing around in weight divisions. It still is a new division. An it is what it is.

    So you want them to make a heavyweight an super heavy weight division? I dont know why people suggest this happening. People act like this is the first time there has been large heavyweights. Many great heavyweight champs in the past that were on the smaller side were able to overcome huge huge heavies.
    Problem in the heavies isnt the size advantage it's just the lack of talent. The two best heavys just happen to have huge frames right now. Is what it is. Leave the cruisers where they are.

    In French it goes like :

    "Mi-lourds" for the light heavyweights (literally "half/Jr-Heavies")

    "Lourds-légers" for the cruiserweights which means light heavyweights (léger = light)

    & "Lourds" for heavywheights. 'Lourd" means heavy.

    It's more accurate actually :think
