I'm thinking of making a trip to the IBHOF, been saying I will for years but havent so far. What is it like?
I went as a random visit in 2006, and have gone to every induction weekend since 2008. The induction weekend is great. Lots of awesome fighters and figures walking about and easily accessible. I have yet to have a bad time and have seen and come into close contact with some of the biggest names in boxing, including Mike Tyson, Pernell Whitaker (he's a jackass, by the way), Julio Caesar Chavez, and Marvin Hagler. I have nearly 100 autographs now and have met several great champions. It's a great time.
Do it...you won't be disappointed! The best part was going to Graziano's Restaurant right across the street at night. EVERYBODY who is somebody cruise's throught there. I saw Bert Sugar sitting in a booth talking to a few guys, asked him for his autograph & he invited me to sit in the booth with them to chat for 30 minutes. It was so cool! Brushed faces with Lucian Bute, the place was so packed. Prob got 25+- autographs just with this one trip in 2010. Here I am in the Hall of Fame Museum: This content is protected
:happy Thanks fellas! Aside from being *******/*****-free, this thread and stories gave me a big goofy grin on my face! Something else to pin on the To Do list!
I went to the induction weekend this year and I would recomend to only go during induction weekend. The hall itself is really small so unless your trip is a matter of convenience, I'd wait. If you plan on going for next years induction plan early and book your hotel way ahead of time. Also, for alot of the events you can pre-buy (also way ahead of time), VIP passes so you get alot closer to the fighters which is WELL worth the money. Spend the cash and go to all the events including the dinner. The website will have all the info. There's a also casino nearby which was really cool too.
