IF ORTIZ IS A CREDIBLE OPPOENT FOR mAYWEATHER, I DON'T THINK YOU COULD NOT SAY THE SAME FOR MARGARITO.

Because those guys were still game and Ortiz was at his absolute peak. Margarito beating Cotto still doesn't disprove that he's damaged goods.
The guy almost had to retire and the doctor said he may go blind. He's done

Wait, now I don't get your logic.
Why would you claim Ortiz as a live opponent when he was brutally TKOed by Maidana??
Now you would claim Margarito would still be damaged goods even if he performs well agasint Cotto??? C'mon :bart

The fact that he's past his prime, w/o his plaster and had a doctor tell him to stop fighting

Margarito is a ****ing plodder who has no skill who used plaster to win fights. Without plaster, he is a **** fighter. Floyd right now would wipe the floor with Margarito.

Ok. what do you want? Compare Margarito and Ortiz individually or put them head to head in the ring for an imaginary fight?

Dude Margarito was 32. 32 ok?
32 - That's an age where fighters should be in their peak

Ortiz - 24??? Dude that's not even at his peak yet.
24 is still too green, just like what you people were claiming on Arum's excuse for Cotto in 2005. See??? logic says Floyd beat a fighter too young and too inexperinced for his level

H2H? analyze this - Ortiz got disassembled by Maidana who he cannot take out. What do you think would happen should he fight against a fighter more durable, more powerful, more pressure, longer and bigger??

If Margarito defeats Cotto then he will have earned the opportunity at another big fight. I'd support Mayweather-Margarito.

I wouldnt mind it, this fight is long overdue anyway.
The problem is that people want pac vs floyd and thats why they wont support any other fight of either guy, while the fights are actually pretty decent.

If someone can justify JMM, Hatton, Mitchell, Ortiz or Gatti (who I think is more past his prime than Margarito) as credible welterweights opponents, I don't see any reason why Margarito would not be a good opponent.

Margarito, even if someone would say is past his prime, is a hell more credible than the names I mentioned. He is a proven welterweight. He may not have won all of his fights, but he fights.
