Brandon Rios vs Marcos Maidana

Based on what?

Maidana has taken punches from Ortiz, Khan, Cayo, and Corley. Who all hit hard and Khan is probably the most dangerous since he has speed as well as power. Maidana stood up to all of them. Even a hard body shot couldn't keep him down.

How many power punchers have Rios faced?

Until I see him take a punch from a hard hitter. His chin is marked as overrated.

Rios is much more talented than Maidana and even though I don't like him outside the ring I find clever inside. For sure he will eat some punches given his style but he covers up pretty well. His punches have a very good form, very tight and he got heavy hands. He's staying at 135 so far and that's a good call. I'd beat Maidana at 140 IMO. Guerrero would be another story 135 or 140.

maidana isn't a pressure fighter and never has been.

 

rios is overrated, maidana's boxing skill is underrated. he was a successful amateur fighter.

i heard it from, Roach, khan after they fought him. Sky commentators mentioned it aswell

Potential FOTY indeed! I have a lot of respect for Rios as a fighter. I think he'll be better than Maidana too if he doesn't run into Promotional problems, injuries, etc. during his prime. But right now I give Maidana the edge because of styles and stages of their careers. Maidana is very strong, durable and powerful. Rios is a great pressure fighter, but lets not forget his been fighting lightweights and getting punched back by lightweights. I don't think Rios is putting Maidana away anytime soon, but do feel Maidana could very well put Rios away after the middle rounds of a grueling fight.

If it were to go for a decision I really feel like it could go either way 50/50. But given the nature of the fight I believe they would choose I give Maidana the nod at winning by stoppage.

Rios comes in around 155 on fight night I think Maidana comes in similar. I would fancy Rios UD - has a good guard up coming in once he gets inside he fires hard short punches which maidana will be open for.
