Not talking about the best performance but rather who's been the most highly regarded boxer to come to the UK this year? The answer is pretty disappointing I feel. I think this is relevant to the overall health and state of the game in this country. With most sports in the UK you can watch world class overseas sportsmen perform here -not in boxing it seems. This despite the UK having had 4 to 5 world champions this year and boxing fans asked to pay extra for so called 'box office' events. If you choose to go overseas to watch a fight then as well as the added expense you also run the risk of a fight being called off at the last minute. Also would it be right to say that the standard of the 'best' imports has been steadily declining decade by decade. If so what does this say about the promoters in this country. But are there legitimate reasons?
It's a good point that you've brought up. As for the main question, probably Jackson Asiku or Lovemore Ndou. Ndou is pretty much done and Asiku was in the main event of a card that was off-TV! As LP mentions, Katsidis will probably be the best by the year's end. He was probably the best last year, as well...
Or Dominco Spada? Jackiewicz will be the first Ring rated fighter to grace these shores this year but there's still plenty of time for Burns-Katsidis to be called off. All in all though I think it's very poor, especially given what fans are asked to pay and that staduims get sold out.
Best foreign prospect that has come over has to be Rabichenko, the Belarussian who Hatton promotes. Most underated foreginer to come over was Jamoye, the kid who McDonell beat, he was good and has most matched very hard since.
I wasn't all that impressed by him against Pryce to be honest. He didn't shout out "future world champion" or anything like that to me anyway. Proksa beats him in that category.
^He needs to get out of the mentailty that he is gonna knock everyone out early, when he does he will get even better. I forgot about Proska, shame he has fought over here so many times and got barely any tv coverage when he has.
Klitchko for the Haye promotion. Tbf until the opening poster brought this topic up I hadnt realised how bad it was.

Now you know you can't have that..... Let's not get a holy war over this! Right now in 2011 who has fought, Prescott would be a decent shout.
yeah, it hadn't crossed my mind before reading this thread but its a pretty **** state of affairs, isn't it?
Compare it to rival nations... Australia - Tarver? Germany - Haye? Canada - Hopkins? Russia - Roy Jones? Ireland - Rigo? Japan - ?
