If SERGIO Retired Today, Would He Be An ATG???

    Martinez is no where near ATG. He is one of my favorites of todays fighters, and though I would rank him in today's top 10 PFP, I think there has been a bit of a rush to jump on the Martinez bandwagon as a top 1-3 fighter. He needs to fight some top fighters to solidify his status.

    Problem is Martinez got put on too late. He is similar to RJJ in that he is an amazing athlete and reflex based. But at 36; the clock is ticking much faster than other fighters. He is at-prime or just past prime and is a great great fighter. He is very exciting and has a good style.

    However, even considering that, he is nowhere near where RJJ was in prime. Doesn't hit as hard, doesn't have the speed, doesn't have the resume, doesn't even have the ability to move up and down as much as RJJ did. RJJ being considered an ATG is even hard to justify; maybe top 100.

    I'd like to see Martinez get a couple of superfights and go down with some good recognition though...no homo.
