Is Floyd on the Verge of Doing Something GREAT???

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by AutomaticBazuti, Oct 7, 2011.

  1. If Floyd ends his career taking down Ortiz, Martinez, Pac, and then capping it with a schooling/beatdown of Khan, then that would be one sick tear through boxing. That will mean that Floyd takes out 3 southpaws (his supposed weakness), 2 serious threats (Martinez, Pacquiao), and a young talent in Khan who is projected to be an elite fighter.

No problem putting Floyd in the Top 10 ATG if he adds the scalps of Pac and Martinez. Ortiz proved to be a joke and I don't see Khan being a serious threat. But taking out Pac and Martinez would be ****ing mega and Ortiz and Khan will be just bonuses.

What do you guys think? Will Floyd turn on the greatness and go on a tear or will he continue to go on vacation?

I hope he turns on the greatness. He needs to leave some memorable fights for the fans to talk about him for years to come. C'MON MAYWEATHER LET'S DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Based too much on 'if'.

I'll wait and see what he actually does.

I'm sick of getting excited over fights that just don't end up happening.

  5. Yep.

The Martinez fight gained a lot of steam, then went cold, but is now warming up again. I for one think it isn't likely to happen... Wouldn't Floyd have showed up in Atlantic City to get a "real" look at Sergio?

IF he fights Martinez and wins, then I wouldn't care so much about pac mac IF he fights Khan and wrecks him. The Pac fight I will just chalk up, comfortably now, to politics...moreso on Manny's side.

I honestly think Mayweather has already "turned up the greatness." The long layoff comeback against Marquez was a good fight and really impressive in how easily he won. He took on Mosley when a LOT of people felt that was a good fight. I gave him a lot of respect for taking on Ortiz. Of course he is going to pick opponents he thinks "Makes sense" however Ortiz was young and just came off an impressive win against Berto; a fighter I felt would be a good fight for floyd to take.

floyds career has been perfectly managed by bob arum, al haymon and now richie schaeffer because they know he has absolutely no skills they had to match him with bums and shot fighters.
