Well I thought Degale deserved the decision vs Groves. However that fight has to make one think Dirrell and Ward would be stylistic problems for Degale.

However I would pick Degale to beat Froch, Johnson, Bute, Kessler and Abraham still.

I think Kenny Anderson and DeGale are the only two domestically who could beat Groves.
I think Anderson would get the job done with a 10 week preperation for Groves and I think thats the reason the rematch wont happen.

DeGale v Groves was already close as it gets, and if DeGale wisened up and got a trainer instead of a cheerleader then I think he'd beat Groves.

Without a doubt DeGale needs a new trainer, someone who wouldnt take no **** and push him to the edge. Someone like Freddy Roach... but I have a feeling Fwank wont wanna go down THAT road again :yep

Smith needs to learn to hit the target against top quality operators aka in his fight with DeGale and his upcoming one against groves. Groves aint as smooth as DeGale and will be easier to hit but on the downside he hits alot harder than DeGale. Groves can be hurt and Smith has the power to hurt him. Smith has top quality sparring with Macklin and I hope he is sparring with Murray and not thinking that he cant because Murray will beat Sturm and then he will fight him because that wont happen. Smith needs to get in some rounds with some top up and comers and bring a bit of variety to the fight or he wont win. But if he is sparring top dogs all the time hes got one hell of a punchers chance. If he knocks him out it will be on the third or fourth punch in a combination. Has Smith got that in his game? possibly. Styles makes fights as Smith says and I agree that this one suits him. However he has got to train smart and that means 3 or 4 rounds every couple of days with talented fighters not just Macklin. If I was him Id go and see Cleverley or Bellew and get some rounds in. Like to point out that I predicted Groves to beat DeGale but I couldnt have been more wrong about how the fight went, Groves boxing on defensive (no wonder DeGale was so scared of this in their get together on Ringside programme before the fight). I go Smith KO POW.

PS Smith needs to put a couple of pounds on for this fight not on upper body. He needs to be squatting 100kg plus for alot of reps. Looked in decent shape for Samuels actually but needs a couple of ponds of solid muscle on his legs. I dont think he squats at all looking at him. Paul follow this advice and not only your strength but your fitness will go through the roof.

Anderson is a good fighter Groves out toughed him. Groves looks sugar and sweet and Anderson looks a mean mother but it aint down to looks or menaces its will power and George is tough as nails, wants to win more than most

Just read a earlier thread DeGale to beat Froch, I agree he will have to be mentally tough but his chin and power is good and his skills are better than Froch. If he gets his head right he will do it, just lose the attitude James and I will root for you, dont think your as bad a bloke as you come across. You prob won or drew Groves fight as well but no grumbles it was to close to say

Smith has looked terrible Bendell for example but he can punch and take one and has the top trainer in possibly the country right now. Smith's biggest problem is he dont want to take his lumps in the gym, DeGale is a touch of a you no what but hes young and could either change or become more of a you no what.

Froch is far superior to De Gale one is a proper world class boxer with great mental and physical strength one is a total hype job albeit with a great amateur career
