What are you talking about? He fought Ricky Hatton the undisputed undefeated wbc wca bca and epa 140LB champion....At 147.
Get the crap kicked out of him. Cotto is not and has never been on Floyd's level. I don't see how people can't see this. He would be countered to pieces. If Margarito can land at will with his slow hands, just imagine the speed and accuracy of Mayweather. This is why Arum never wanted that fight.
Arum ducked floyd, cotto was at the gatti fight. Arum said he wasn't ready at the time. And at no time after did floyds name ever come out of cottos mouth
I dont think Cotto could hurt Floyd like Mosley did....and he just is not as good a boxer as Floyd. He was fantastic in the Mosley fight though.
Floyd is virtually techinically perfect so any match-up to an opponent with major technical flaw, such opponent will likely be favored to lose. Theoreticals - where most analysis is based on technique/style, generally technical fighters win.
Cotto was never a threat to beat Mayweather, seriously. There is a reason why Arum did not want to put him in the ring with Mayweather when Mayweather's future with Top Rank was uncertain. Weak right shoulder, open to be hit, doesn't fight well backing up, with slow foot speed and lateral movement. Cotto would have got worked.
Well, if Cotto does beat Margarito then I can actually see it happening, unless of course Arum is dumb enough to put Cotto in against PacMan again.
He'd have a chance. His jab and timing is much better than anything Ortiz could bring coming forward. I think Mayweather might be to quick and smart, but a confident boxer-puncher with good body work and timing has a good chance to outpoint and rough up Mayweather.
Cotto would loose easily. Even though he beat Mosley which should of been a draw in my opinion, because both fighters did enough to win that fight. Cotto is easy to hit, we know this because he have taste the canvas several times, although he's came back to win those fights. A younger Cotto wouldn't of been able to stop Mayweather and I believe an older more heavier Cotto wouldn't be able either.
