yeah he ducked 140 but went up to fight the 147 kingpin and then on his first defence fought a prime vernon forrest.
The Oscar fight was going to take place at 147 when it happened, and he was always going to have a much easier time cutting down to 147 from 160 than he was to 140. In his third fight at 147 he fought the rightful and clear P4P1 and second best fighter of the 90's. Not quite, he smashed the ****s off of Adrian Stone, Shannan Taylor and Antionio Diaz first.
By the time he lost the welterweight title he was eyeing 154 and started roiding once he was there. He really would have struggled to make 140 and would have been something like 165 (mentions it in Countdown to Vargas-Mosley 2 as his walk around weight I think).
He moved to 147 in 1999. In 1999 Hatton was still fighting guys that were 17-72. So why would anyone even mention a fight between Ricky Hatton and Shane Mosley in 99? The only decent fight for Mosley at 140 would have been Kostya, and Shane would have crushed him worse than Phillips. The big $ was against Oscar.
I believe before the Pacquiao fight was signed at 140, there was talk of Hatton taking on Mosley in a move to 147 by the guys on Sky. If that fight had of been made I think the contract should have guaranteed Hatton to have his bodybag bought by the Mosley camp.
If that fight happened, I think Mosley would have manhandled Hatton easily. The guy's more flawed and more vulnerable than Margarito IMO.
Him and fishnets Oskar was afraid of Kostya Tszyu. The Russian power puncher was avoided. Void is void.
