Huh? Frazier overrated, not Hall worthy?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by ringsideboxing, Oct 11, 2011.

  1. Boxing writer Lyle Fitzsimmons names five boxers, including Joe Frazier, whom he says were overrated and unworthy of the Hall of Fame. We've posted his column at www.ringsideboxingshow.com.

The boxing hall of fame has nothing to do with skill. Sure a lot of the members had great skills, but its the boxing hall of FAME. Stallone is in the hal ffs! Frazier has every right to be there.

Fitzimmons' logic escapes me. He criticized the induction of Chacon, but did not say a word about Little Red. Without Chacon in the way Danny Lopez would have been the featherweight champion long before he was, and Danny would have fewer losses. The Chacon fight really messed Little Red up, and afterward many thought Danny was ruined. So according to Fitzimmmons Danny Lopez is IBHOF worthy, but the man who nearly ended his career is not worthy!

Fitzimmons also critisized Qawi. The Camden Buzzsaw was a two division world champ who fought in 3 divisions and mixed it up with two generations of elite competition. He was also one of the most exciting fighters of his era. **** Fitzimmons!

The Joe Frazier criticism doesn't deserve a response.

Joe Frazier beat Muhammad Ali when they were closest to their primes. That's a pretty good reason he should be in the HOF.

The author of this article is an attention *****. Frazier is not only worthy for the Hall he is a top 50 ATG of the sport. Moreover he is a man that was ready to go and fight blinded for a round against the greatest HW in history...

I noticed Fitzimmons conveniently ignored Joe's FOTY with Quarry, as well as his wins against guys like Bonavena and Chuvalo! Quarry and Bonavena were two of the very best heavyweights who never won the title. In addition, if memory serves me correctly, Frazier was the only guy who ever put Bonavena on the canvass. Chuvalo beat Quarry and lost a very competitive MD to Bonavena, so George was right in there on that same level, but Fitzimmons fails to mention any of those fighters.

Maybe he skipped the line on Frazier's record that says "He defeated Ali".

It's only one mans opinion. Other so called boxing 'experts' make a case for Pacquiao being the P4P #1 ATG ever. Just ignore these opinions.

And let me put it this way: saying that Pacquiao is the P4P #1 ATG ever is not as ridiculous as saying that Frazier was overrated and not HOF worthy..

Even without the Ali fights, Fraziers record would stand on its own feet and not crumble
