I like Johnny, got a bit of charisma! I had a wee training session with him at Morrison's gym, he really can put a shift in no worries with fitness

i could have trained paul weir to be a world champion the guy was so naturally gifted . paul was fighting like that before peter got his hands on him believe me even as an amatuer under the guidence of johnny mullen at springside he fought like a pro. As for scott , as far as boxing skills go - nothing special- but had a heart of a lion and a solid chin and was always very fit and strong. just for the record 8 TITLE DEFENCES
As for billy i agree he has done a great job with ricky to get him were he is and i hope he beats katsidis ( cant see it though). When i think of world class trainers i think of guys like Freddie roach, Manny stewart, Robert Garcia, Nazim richardson, Roger and Floyd mayweather. These guys produce plenty of world champions . They also work on all aspects of the boxing art from latrel movement , combinations, creating angles , defence, offence and footwork etc and im sorry but latrel movement is somthing i dont see in any of billys fighters. they are all very tough very fit and try and walk there opponents down ( simpson , appellby , simmons and he also wants ricky to be alot more aggressive and he will have mcewan doing the same aswell

Agree with some of this, but Scott could really box, and believe it or not, the worry was that Scott lacked power, not ability during his early pro days.
And as for what Billy does with his fighters, well you work with what you got, and you work to get them the best THEY CAN BE, not into something they CANNOT.
I really hope he does have McEwan being more aggressive, but also back to getting on his toes, as when he stands and trades Craig doesnt move his head. He needs to unleash and get outta reach.

Billy is a very good coach from the little I know, but people who I respect say he is, and Peter Harrison was excellent, but with the amateurs didnt suffer guys either half assing it, or who couldnt get it. He was a pro coach.

Im not saying that peter or billy are not good trainers. I rate both but all i said was that i dont think their world class and out of both i prefer Billy Nelson. I Know that When Peter was teaching the junior international team A lot of peoples veiws changed on peter and some of the stuff he was teaching them on how to use elbows etc earned him the nickname Dirty harrison .
As for craig Mcewan i agree with what you say more head movement. i also think he needs to tighten his defence as poor defence is what cost him against andy lee

I think at the moment the best camp in Scotland is Billy Nelson so he has got something correct and is producing champions so this is not luck he does have talent and is a good trainer whether he is as good as Peter Harrison only time will tell .

I thought Ricky Burns was training with Peter Harrison when he left Rab Bannon and was being Cornered by John McNair but show you not to believe everything that is in the paper

Peter is the mentor, the master. Billy still has a long way to go and i'm sure learned a great deal from Peter. Peter has been in game for years pro and am.
