Could Mike Tyson have won the Heavyweight championship in his pro debut?

    If he made his pro debut against Larry Holmes in 1985, could he have won?

    why not? Holmes was starting to decline and Tyson was about as phenomenal a heavyweight can be.

    Tyson was very, very beatable by a guy who knew what they were doing Holmes at that point still had enough in the tank to handily beat Mike.

    He probably could have taken a World Title earlier than he did, but first bout...I don't think so. But even saying that, who knows if he could have taken a title earlier than he did, he improved and gained vital experience leading up to that point.

    For a start even being washed up Holmes still went 5 with Tyson, for his pro debut Tyson would have been a max of 4 X 2 rounds at a time in the amateurs and we all know he had stamina issues.

    he didnt have the gas tank

    holmes was still champ right with 15 rounds

    holmes was more relevant at this point in time than when he fought tyson

    and holmes finally lost to a tricky mover like spinks

    hed probably out box the debut tyson and wear him down with his jab

    He needed more experience before stepping to guys like Larry Holmes. Kostya Tszyu, however, could have taken the title in his pro debut.
