You don't fix a fight when it's JMM against some bum. There's no need. But on the other hand the guy probably took a dive, because he didn't want to be there.
Barker vs Martinez was strange to me. Holyfield vs Valuev seemd like it was orchestrated. To me that fight looked like Evander was supposed to take the early rounds and then Valuev was to come on late. The only problem was that he never came on enough to justify the cards. Clottey straight up refused to compete against Pac...something was up there.
I personally think the pacquiao vs margarito fight was fixed. "Go in there, get the crap beat outta you by pacquiao for a while and you get your licenses back."
In Marquez's last fight the guy could have quit by going down when he realised he would be outclassed as opposed to it being fixed.
Is the Golden Boy too nice to ever fix a fight? If he hasn't already been involved in a couple fixed fights, I think he will be someday. I am not trying to say anything be he didn't give much against Pac. And I do understand he was weight drained and old. Does anybody ever get caught fixing a fight? I am a fan of current boxing and am not a historian by any means.
Straght-up "your ass goes down in the fifth" kind of fixing is extremely rare, if not non-existent, in elite-level boxing nowadays. Today, there is a new form of fixing that is far more subtle and insidious. In most fights today, one fighter is brought in to win and the other to lose . Consequently, the deck is always stacked in the favour of the favourite. Case in point, Ward vs Froch. Ward has the backing of a whole network behind him who hold massive sway over the boxing commissions in places like Nevada and California. The judges who are appointed by these commissions get high-roller treatment and massive expenses, so they know not to bite the hand that feeds them and what's expected of them. Showtime and Dan Goosen can also dictate where the fight is fought, and all kinds of other **** like ring doctors, who enters the ring first etc. Everything they can get to give their boy the best shot of winning. Although I hate this kind of ****, fighters occasionally tear up the script, so these fights are still interesting to watch.
clottey or mosley makes more sense if you want to point out a pacfight, margarito really wanted to win.
I cannot believe in fixes in boxing. It goes against my thinking and why I love boxing. If you believe in fixes you might as well find another sport because you can just say a fight is fixed when you don't like the decision or result. Do I think judges can be influenced? Probably, but it has to be proven. The fixes I am talking more about is fighters taking a dive. I do not think that happens. Not in the big fights anyway.
Dude Marquez gets put on his ass every match, if he gets knock down by some bum, you think people would be tuning in for the Pac/JMM 3 fight. Think about it.:think
