What does Hopkins has to do to be ranked above Joe Calzaghe?

Joe was a great fighter and I think fairly won the decision in their fight. But you judge greatness on overall career as well. BHop had a great long reign in a glamor division and also has performed well at Light Heavy to a late age, with his only real loss to Joe Calzaghe (a HOFer) in a close fight. Overall BHop ranks higher as an all time great, even though I think Calzaghe would have won a rematch, due to his having figured out Hopkins by the 3rd round. No other fighter has figured out Hopkins though, in recent years anyway. But the overall accomplishments puts BHop slightly above Calzaghe.

I think either fighter would give anyone in their weight range (all time) a very good fight. I would love to see Calzaghe or BHop against Carlos Monzon.

    :deal Scoreboard.

And you know Bailey picked the bottom option despite the more appropriate "balls" option.

I voted for Hopkins of course, but Calzaghe has clearly done things that equals the Trinidad win.

Opinions are subjective, but I still have to say yours seem pretty off.

Hopkins must be ranked above Calzaghe. But Calzaghe could clearly be viewed as an ATG and was head too head at Hopkins level.

Hopkins will be ranked above Calzaghe simply because he fought better opposition and got beat by 1 point by a younger faster opponent. Hopkins was robbed at least twice in his career.

Mirrors my thoughts: H2H - Joe with technically "close" decision (technicaly close points winning by Nard in the early rounds, wheras Joe clearly dominated even hurting Nard in 2nd half). Overall body of work Nard takes it through longevity.
Shame Joe didn't step up until so late in his career, who knows how he might have done against elite US SMW (Toney & Jones). Tend to think that he could win a SD vs. Toney. Prime RJJ: either early - mid round KO for RJJ or wins UD, in the UD RJJ actually looses a couple of the last rounds.... Joe's bigger engine

    It's too late.
bhop had his chance to be ranked above Calzaghe when he fought him but since he lost he will never bypass him.
Personally I'm a bigger fan of bhop but I gotta admit that Calzaghe has to rank higher than him if for no other reason than the fact that calzaghe beat bhop.

    Sorry

Good point (if you're being sarcastic)

I just personally think a guy that's fought both bhop and Roy Jones jr (even though he was past his prime) and remained unbeaten has to rank higher than them.
Buster Douglas was not unbeaten before or after the Tyson fight.

I'm not saying my opinion in infallible though

I like Joe Calzaghe and rate him as a fighter but Hopkins is already ahead of him, despite the split decision going against him in their fight.

B-Hop got the better of Joe Calzaghe in their fight anyway, I dont give a **** what the judges say or what the punch stats are. If pitter pattery nothing slaps not even landing cleanly does it for you then fine, give it to Calzaghe if you want but there was only one guy dictating what type of fight he wanted it to be and landing effectively in that fight and it wasn't Joe.
