I thought the most telling aspect of this fight was DeGale's comment after... "The George Groves defeat was the best thing that ever happened to me"

    What a crock of ****....

He hasnt dont **** all. He' still got the same bumb trainer, he still hanging around with the same crowd, he is still getting the same poor sparring, he is still slapping instead of punching (albeit not as much), his footwork is still terrible, his head movement is still poor, i could go on and on.

At least when Amir Khan says that about the Prescott fight there is some actual weight behind those comments.

He has just gone life a death with Polish Pete and now he is talking up a World Title fight next year. Im staggered.

Yeah, I don't see much improvement in DeGale which is a shame. He needs to have a few easy fights, work with a different trainer and then he can fulfill his potential. I don't think anyone can honestly say that he will become the fighter he should be, unless he changes to a better trainer. It's essential.

He looked like a 12 fight fighter...he has a great deal to learn, but he does have a decent chin which really does augurs well

But why has he not done that already?

His trainer is probably the worst thing to ever happen to him

Let's be real here the number of fights is irrelevant. He's been a pro 3 years now, isn't a kid and is on a massive money contract as a prospect/domestic champion.

Looked like he's got even worse to me tonight. He cried wolf when Groves 'nicked' the fight off him fighting on the back foot yet that's all he did himself tonight. If the Polish guy could punch harder he might well have had DeGale beaten again.

That said, DeGale did well to dig in and took some shots well. He has to work on his punch technique though because it's awful. When he does throw well he lands some great punches and there were a few really good uppercuts landed tonight but far too many are cuffing or just rattled together without much thought. For a back foot, counter-punch style boxer, that's not usually a recipe for success.

You can only gauge the strength of his chin on the opponent who is hitting him.... Its safe to say that he doesnt have a glass chin but he was wobbled pretty badly by some of those shots

im not a De Gale fan one bit, and i was chuffed to bits when Groves beat him.

but credit where its due. He fought his heart out tonight, got caught with a big right hand and dug in. he was very good tonight i thought.

saying that though, the talk of throwing him into a fight with Mikkel Kessler next year is just ludicrous,

De Gale fight Kessler would be like taking chop sticks to a gun battle.

it'd be like watching a snuff film, De Gale would get murdered

Seems to find it very hard to fight another fighter who counters or is on the back foot against him. Looked poor in range and didn't have the patience to see if the Pole would come after him. Looks very one dimensional if he isn't having his way. Those body shots looked weak as well and you could tell they done nothing to the Polish guy down the straight.

When the US promoters seen the talent, they;d want to sign him up, just like they did with khan, warrun would be reluctant plus over here he enjoys the luxury of being a star over in the US he's a nobody.

You are a poster who doesn't post very often, BUT you have just about hit the nail on the head. DeGale v Kessler is just about laughable, actually it is laughable

DeGale needs to find a style and stick to it. He created his own problems 2nite. New trainer is a must but a good win none the less.

Your talking shite Roe, tonight Degale got a gut check, He was tested and was made to work for his win, the experience difference between 30 odd fights and 12 is huge at this level. Degale done well.

Never thought DeGale would take so many punches in a fight. Got caught by the straight right far too easily.
