Source: California Code of Regulations (chapter 1. Professional Boxing Rules)

    http://www.dca.ca.gov/csac/stats_regs/regulations.pdf

According to § 337, "Pushing an opponent" is a Foul.

Let's say that Dawson didn't want to cause that foul. It's an Unintentional-Foul (see § 339):

    (a) When a bout is interrupted due to an injury caused by an unintentional foul, the referee in
consultation with the ringside physician shall determine whether the boxer who has been fouled can
continue or not. If the referee sees, or if after consultation with the judges, determines that a boxer is
unintentionally fouled and if the boxer's chance of winning has not been seriously jeopardized as a
result of a foul, the referee may order the bout continued after a reasonable interval. Rev. 9/09 47.

    (b) If the referee and/or the ringside physician determine that the bout may not continue
because of an injury suffered as the result of an unintentional foul or because of an injury inflicted by an
unintentional foul which later becomes aggravated by fair blows, the bout must be declared a draw if
the bout is stopped before the bell rings to begin the fourth round. After the bell rings to begin the fourth
round, the outcome shall be determined by scoring the completed rounds and the round during which
the referee or ringside physician stopped the bout.

    (c) When an unintentional foul causes the bout to be interrupted for the purpose of allowing the
injured boxer time to recover, the referee shall penalize the boxer guilty of the foul one or more points.

    This is also interesting:

"§ 346. Procedure Where Failure To Compete.
In any case where the referee decides that the contestants are not honestly competing, that the
knockdown is a "dive," or the foul a prearranged termination of the bout, the referee shall not finish the
knockdown count or disqualify for fouling or render a decision, but shall stop the bout not later than
before the end of the last round and order purses of both boxers held pending investigation and
disposition of the funds by the commission. The announcer shall inform the audience that no decision Rev. 9/09 49.
    has been rendered."

This is why it'll get declared a NC.

    NICE POST!

I trully believe it will get over turned..IF IT DOES NOT THEN THE CSAC HAS A LOT OF HATE COMING (THEY ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH SO ADDING MORE WILL PUT MORE PRESSURE).

I HOPE ESPN EXPOSES THIS AND STICKS WITH THE STORY.

Only one problem, there was nothing deemed an intentional or unintentional foul by the ref. They would have to go back and retroly deem damsons act an unintentional or intentional foul. More likely the governing body will simply demand an immediate rematch.

And you morons will pay again for that garbage that is both Hopkins and Dawson to a lesser degree.

it's illegal to use the shoulder, something Dawson admitted to doing intentionally in the post fight interview.

I wonder what was more unintentional Hopkins jumping on Dawson or Dawson throwing Hopkins down.

Dawson fouled first by bending below his opponent's waist.

Then Hopkins fouled by pushing down on Dawson's head

Then Dawson fouled by pushing Hopkins with his shoulder.

There is the proof. Pat Russell did the wrong thing. He should be banned as a ref and the fight should be a NC, And if the CSAC doesn't there will be 1. A lot of hate on them and 2. Less boxing in California.

it's a joke how much power these refs have

they can even overrule the written rules that they are supposed to follow, and nothing can be done about it until AFTER the fight is done

That's it then. The rules clearly state it should not be rule a TKO victory. Regardless of the other bull****, that's what matters most.

    Thank you for this post.

Specially that Dawson himself confirmed he fouled, those rules seem pretty clear to me. No contest.

Although I would like a second Pascal Dawson.

its a clear NC. the referee should be burned at stake for declaring it a tko
