    Degale proved more last night than he would ever have imagined. I think he showed really character in that fight and you can't help but be impressed with the spirit if not the skilled performance

    Wilczewski and Groves are both better than anyone Andre Ward took on in his first 4 years and 18 fights. I think Degale should go to the USA get a few undercard fights and build up his confidence, escape the 'expectations' of others

    Some good thoughts here. I think, personally, he's a lost cause. The flaws - mental and physical - he's shown in his career so far are massive. These are not little things like he backs up in straight lines, they are essentials like he has no sense of where to place his punches.

    Some also mistake the fact he moves around a lot for being a good mover. He isn't at all.

    The Groves fight should have been a wake-up call. He was outfoxed simply by a guy denying him the range he likes to work at. Last night he barely got by a guy who came right to him, but changed angles.

    It's fine for a prospect to need to learn these things, but it's ridiculous to state he's ready for world titles.

    Nah it wasn't Dilks folded i mean the punches hardly landed but he went into a shell and never through back and when the fight was stopped knew he bottled the job.

    Thats an easy one. Groves is less hyped than DaGale but neither is world class as it stands.

    I ain't a Groves fan and most will think i'm plain hating but he i wondered same thing while watching fight and think he is. He's not that good he's lucky he's 22 cos people are willing to give him more time but IMO. He's another who needs to find a style and stick to it. Also i said it a long while ago if DeGale's **** then what's Groves? cos he just about got the job done whatever way you look at it.

    agree with op points.

    degale needs to learn some fundamentals tbh,fight what suits him,not what he thinks is cool and flashy to fight like.

    Gorgeous George has much more talent than DeGale from all I've seen but he himself isn't exactly looking amazing either. The difference being though that he's younger and can at least punch correctly. He's also got better (although also poor) footwork, head movement, punch variety, power, management and is less of a twat. I think Groves makes it at top level in 3 or 4 years time for what it's worth. The Paul Smith fight coming up will be interesting though and slight contradiction here but I wouldn't write off Smith like most are.

    Groves has shown growth between fights. He made a big mistake against Anderson but came back and stopped him. By the time he fought DeGale he had learnt self-control. He completely disarmed DeGale, who got too much credit for hitting arms.

    This was considering many said Groves couldn't out-box the older man, yet that's exactly what he did. Jab, right, step off, move, repeat. All night long. And later on when they did trade, Groves got the better body shots in.

    And this is a guy who hasn't fully developed, but he was showing poise and maturity that DeGale still hasn't. And that's the difference between them: George is all potential, with flaws and strengths to take account of. He has a good jab, punches with correct form and showed he could get in the right position to attack and defend against DeGale.

    Plenty of mongs want to say that was the best of Groves, but really it was the best of him right now. It also appears to be the best of DeGale, quite honestly, going on how many of the same mistakes he made against Piotr.

    But I still rate them closely. Groves is a bit better and has shown more development. The next two years will make or break these two. I have the feeling it'll be Groves moving up and DeGale moving into the realms of "wasted talent."

    Even though he doesn't really have that much. And he's a *****.
