Very pissed. It was an amazing fight card and we had just been graced with a FOTY candidate in DeMarco/Linares.

Hopkins came out to an electric crowd that also fully respected Dawson. It was going to be a great, damn near historic, night for Boxing! The first round was everything you could hope for. Hopkins breaking Dawson's rhythm. Dawson being the young intelligent fighter using his speed and distance well.

The next round both fighters push the pace. Hopkins doing his usual punch and headbutt routine. Dawson throwing lightning fast shots at range and displaying some athletic defensive skills (bending at the waist). Hopkins catches Dawson and is cheated out of what looked like a KD. The young lion in Dawson is released... then comes the BS.

I was pissed not really that the fight ended. I was pissed because both men robbed themselves. Both did some BS that would have been whatever if it didn't result in the fight ending. Made you just say tonight was so great... Why? Damn!

Bernard has always bitched out when it got tough.

Just because he is a black american doesnt make it slick when you headbutt , hold and smother like ****ing Ruiz, from any other country he would have lost wide to JC and lost to Winky.

whoever saw it coming is a god damned liar. there's no way to predict something like that regardless of hopkins' past. he's coming off of back to back spirited fights against a young, skilled fighter. gtfoh with that

This is what I said beforehand , it is definately in the right direction. Although I agree not including his Robbie Allen move.

there's a difference between being "in the right direction" and "seeing it coming." I could have said bernard was gonna lose controversially, that's in the right direction. if you would have said he would suffer a really bad injury and choose not to continue, then you would have seen it coming, and I would place all of my sports off your word for the rest of my life

didnt see it live so im not as pissed as ticket holders or PPV buyers

    but its a black eye

pumpin up the oldest champ in history the bout gets attention and it ends so inconclusively

imagine if there isnt a rematch history books will say Hopkins oldest champ dethroned by a freak injury from a fall resulting from a clinch

ppl will always wonder what really would have happened and if hopkins could have reigned for even longer

i personally thought hopkins was gonna lose this bout any way but we may never know

by the time the rematch happens if at all hopkins will be older and maybe dawson would be cocky or less focused or something from the first bout may changed the way bout 2 is fought

dawson was off to a great start i read i wonder if hed keep the same mental state of mind and plan in a rematch

There were lots of us who predicted the "bad" version of Hopkins who fought Calzaghe and Taylor to show up against Dawson, which he did.

I know I wrote it wouldn't be a surprise for the fight to get stopped due to a butt or a cut with Bernard hacking and grabbing, but Hopkins turning ***** and bailing on the fight falls into the same category. It's why he avoided Dawson for as long as he did.

But I was still really pissed and especially for Chad, who was focused and aggressive. Hopkins needs to retire for his own sake to avoid further embarrassing himself and hurting the sport.

I dont know why he avoided dawson, or if he did. you dont really know either, speculate all you want. I try not to do that because then you're fooling yourself into believing an opinion is fact. secondly, it doesnt fall into the same category. suffering a butt or cut and the fight being stopped is totally different from being thrown to the ground and suffering a dislocation of the collar bone from the shoulder blade, and the fight being stopped. i'm not gonna even address the whole, hopkins turning ***** thing. end of the day, he's just a man like you and I.

also, further embarrassing himself? "O, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY?"

the man beat jean pascal twice, the same dude who handed pascal his first loss.

and how do you know it was the hopkins that fought calzaghe and taylor who showed up to fight dawson when they hadnt even fought for two rounds when the fight ended? and you cant simply blame the lack of action on bernard. it takes two to tango

Very pissed. I wanted to see either history get made or a former champion proving his worth, and above all, a display of high-level boxing.

We got none of those things.
