Nobody avoided anybody IMO. They were just split up over three weight classes and Calzaghe wasn't a big enough name yet.

Calzaghe has been the best kept secret in boxing for years. Why should Calzaghe, or anyone fight in America only to get cheated by criminal judges, referees and extremely provincial commentators for far less money? Take a look at the huge crowds for boxing in Europe, compare with the crowed in US.

Agree. Would have been nice seeing Calzaghe in the big fights years ago. Sad decisions can sometimes sway to nationalistic sympathies or even just home town biases.

Yea he has a huge crowd because there arent alot of GREAT fighters in Europe. Compare that to America and you'll see why fighters like Calzaghe and Hatton have a huge following.. Because there is nobody else there to follow thats very good. In America there are alot of great fighters.

Calzaghe wasnt avoided and RJJ for sure wasnt avoided nobody who goes 2-3 along with gettin knocked out all three loses gets avoided hopefully Bhop and Calzaghe get the deal signed so we can see what the old man has left in the tank im sure it'll be another nocth in the belt for JC but no matter who wins would be RJJ i think roy needs some more key wins to deserve that fight

Also dodged Ottka, offereing him less than a 1/3 of what he normally got in Gemrany. When he did call out Ottka, he came up with a bad back and a bad hand.
Fought Mitchel the ex instead of going after Ottka the then fresh double world champ.
    Didn't even call out Beyer.:nut
Fought a lot of who's and didn't he use to be someone on the whole. IMO.

I'm sick of this debabte. Joe was happy defending his WBO bauble at home for big money. Warren is partially to blame but Joe showed lack of ambition as well. Hopkins & Jones were undisputed champs in their respective divisions whilst Joe was just a WBO servant. It's not their fault Joe allowed the WBO & Warren to dicate his career.

I respect Joe but lets not try & gloss this over anymore. He was happy with his lot but we cant now build him a retrospective legacy.

  14. Joe was avoided like the plague, massive risk zero reward. Because he wasn't named a loss to would have seemed worse than a loss to Tarver at the time even.

Joe was too good for his own good.

  15. seriously, where do you come up with this tripe?

    Ottke? OH PLEASE!!!

And beyer? Didn't Joe beat the man who beat him - WITH EASE!

All this anti Joe propoganda BS really has to stop, if you're gonna argue make sense at least!
