well Sugar Ray Leonard started the catchweight thing for himself after he beat Hagler. It was a way for him to dictate weights and get a fighter weaker so he could beat them. It was as though Ray was bigger than boxing, which bothered many boxing fans in the late 1980s. Catchweights are a way to make a fight where it could not be made otherwise. If it is for a title and the fighters cannot weight in at the weight for that belt, why would that be for that title. It really does not make sense.

Whats hilarious about Floyd fans and their "Oscar was a catchweight" bs is that Floyd-Oscar II was gonna be at 147.

Manny is up there. Simple as that.

    But I agree KO KIDD.

It's ignored that Mayweather was outweighed but not Pac.

Pac and Floyd weigh nearly the same. Yet you have dumbasses like Pejevan saying Mayweather looks huge and way bigger than Ortiz. Despite actually being a 15lb difference.

If Floyd Mayweather is so great, why would he need a drug test to beat someone he says is one dimensional and that he can whoop easily?

Do some homework.....catch weight fights have been threaded throughout the history of the sport. It didn't start with Ray Leonard kid. Catch weights are typically for more gifted fighters who dominate in their own division to move, down or both between divisions to secure more meaningful fights. Sometimes a smaller fighter will need time to get ease into a new weight class. His body needs time to adjust and get acclimated to the added weight.
