How? Have dogs spouted wings and gone flying?

Seriously pal, you could be in a far worse place with much worse people. The italians will not think of you as a **** foriegner yeah? :gsg

Besides, the sack of ****s who took over already did it... in 1066.

Had me wondering too, I was still on pg1. If Froch was Irish he'd be P4p one of our best sportsmen ever at this stage, let alone boxers.

I have lived in a few different countries, including both Italy and the US, although I am a Brit, and people in other countries often asked me all about the UK and said that they wanted to move here... because of the lower crime, less compartmentalized society, more effective police, more open governments, higher standard of living. I am not saying who wins on those counts - we all value different aspects of society - but judging countries 'en masse' generally ends up with many of the vocal contributors expressing a 'the grass is greener' view. Many continental European and US cities that I have spent time in have a much more Jekyll and Hyde personality that those in the UK, there is a much more evident criminal undercurrent after dark in areas that are find during the day, including right in the centre. This happens everywhere, but personally I find it more pronounced in many countries compared with the UK. Bureaucracy is often worse overseas, drugs are more readily available. Anyway, I loved living in some of the countries I have lived in, I could happily relocate to the US or a few European countries - all the ones bordering the Alps offer a great lifestyle to me - but that is personal preference based on lots of subtle factors specific to me. Anyone seeking to relocate for some of the reasons expressed on this thread would be very disappointed. I would move for reasons of personal preference and taste (I stress that I am not - overall I prefer it here) but moving for reasons of hoodies, home ownership, standard of living, representative government etc would find themselves sorely disappointed as they would not, in my opinion, find a net improvement.

Another issue that I do not think has been raised on this thread (and apologies if it has and I simply missed it) - perhaps Froch might entertain a move for reasons other than career. He has made his money, he can still get the big fights wherever he is based, so perhaps any move (and personally I just think it was a throwaway comment while he is still fighting) would be based on his just wanting to live somewhere else, rather than for reasons of fanbase, access to big fights etc. Not all moves are down to career, even among sportsmen. I am fortunate in that I could live anywhere in the world and still do my work, I just need a computer, so perhaps Carl, if he were to move, might do so simply because he wants to? His career is sorted regardless.

Cars, food, wine and lifestyle! Entirely different from the UK, so some will prefer this, some that. One man's idea of heaven is to live on top of a mountain surrounded by snow, another's to live by a beach, mine is a windy hilltop, we're all different and it is a difficult thing to explain, sometimes.
