Pacquaio is fighting Marquez at the same catchweight as Mayweather did at 144?

I think you are forgetting that Marquez fought a taller, way bigger man that night. To add the fact that it was PBF. Saying Marquez did not look good at that weight takes away all the credit from Floyd. The weight probably did play a little role, but JMM looking bad that night was more on him going against a bigger, much more talented man.

Marquez and Pac already have a history, and he's taller and probably bigger than Pac at the weigh in. Only this time will tell you how he really is at that weight, to add the fact he's also aged.

 

I think pac is looking to "show up" Floyd by out performing bin with common opponents... In all honesty Floyd is always fighting someone else's "leftovers"....Ortiz was Marcos former victim, Shane was Forrest former victim as well as Winkys....JMM...Pac's leftovers.

Does that diminish the credibility of those fighters? The same way that "Floyd's leftovers" have? Or is it just because it Pac?

Pacquiao and Marquez have a history and fought twice, long before Floyd fought Marquez. The third fight is a natural, fans have been calling for it since the rematch, it has nothing to do with tha ****** Floyd.

Floyd's the one who picked Marquez as his comeback opponent, and only because Marquez was Pac's rival, when boxing had already forgotten about Mayweather and Pac was the man, voted FOTD. Mayweather announced it during Pac-Hatton, using Pac's name too in comeback statement. He's the one who was using Pac's name and using his former opponent to try and outdo Pac.

When Pacquiao fought De La Hoya and Hatton, that ***** Mayweather was already in retirement and not many gave a **** about him, let alone Pac. Forgetting De La Hoya had cherry picked Pac, De La Hoya had fought everyone, was other fighters' leftovers (as you idiots like to say) long before the Floyd fight, where Floyd did absolutely no damage and infact was the one who face looked worse. Floyd also never beat Hatton at 140, who was unbeaten there and coming off his greatest win since Tszyu.

 

Pac definitely shouldn't get more credit than Mayweather for taking this fight.

It's quite clear that Mayweather and Pac are 1/2lbs apart. Unlike the theory like pejevan that Floyd was heavier than Ortiz.

 

Mayweather couldn't or didn't want to make 144. Pacquiao easily will. Pac will weigh not much past the welter limit, whereas Mayweather looked massive against Marquez (and Mosley) and could've been mid 150's (he was reportedly 152 in an NSAC pre-fight weigh-in before the fight when he would've still been in training and a bit drained cutting down/maintaining his weight).

Despite what his recent ring weight was reported as against Ortiz, we don't know what his weight was in the ring against Marquez. In any case, 152 is more than 1/2 lbs difference from 148/149, and Mayweather fought Marquez as a full fledged welter, whereas Pac will be fighting him as an undersized welter at the 144 catchweight.

 

I didn't care for the spin that the other poster tried put on this fight, so I just called it what it is. People need to stop with the double standard.

Instead of doing somethng unique to make this fight standout more, Pac takes the fight at the same C/W Floyd did. It was considered shameful for Floyd to face a blown up LW. Yet, the P4P #1 turns around and does the same thing. WTF??? **** is **** whether it's wrapped in a fancy bow or not. If that's what we are calling it, when it pertains to Floyd, same applies to Manny.

Now, with that said, i think it might turn out to be a decent fight. But, I know JMM is at a physical disadvantage.

 

He looked huge vs Marquez because he's bigger then Marquez.

Marquez already looked terrible in his one trip to WW. So why should anyone who beats him at WW get any more credit than the guy who did it first?

We have no idea what he was vs Marquez thats correct but you can't just assume because we dont have the weights that he is in the mid 150s.

He looked identical vs Marquez when he did vs Mosley when did did vs Ortiz. He looked nearly the same in size. Of course it will vary if you try to compare it in the ring as all 3 opponents were different sizes.

And I refuse to believe Marquez that he was well into the 160s. Marquez isn't a pro on judging a person based on looks.

Even the two mythbusters did an episode where they tried to judge the weight of two separate items and both failed miserably.
