Bellew vs Cleverly fight review in BN

The point I'm trying to make is that Ray Leonard, told people he was going to fight that way before the fight.

In the rematch! he showed Roberto Duran the slickness, and Roberto Duran could not cope.

Also Ray Leonard was not beaten with ease, it was a war. My grammar is not the best, but do you even know the definition of ease..? Roberto Duran did not beat Ray Leonard with ease.

Nathan Cleverly didn't have to fight Tony Bellew, the way he did, inside of the ring. In his own back Garden, infront of all his home fans..? Cleverly deserves credit.

 

Who did the review of the fight in BN? 111-117 lol

 

I saw the scores from there so called experts and promptly turned the page, Utter bull**** scorecards.

Clev won fair dues but 117-111 jog on you ****s!.

 

A vey close fight only a ****** could score 117-111

Seriously that is just ****ing stupid

Personally, cant see how clev actually won, but it was close. I thought enough rounds were clear either way to avoid any seriously cranky cards. I would say only 3 or 4 rounds were that debatable.

 

If you believe at least 9 rounds in that fight were close, that score can be justified - you may not agree with it but it would be within the bounds of reason.

 

Or better put, as the writer gives his round scores, is there a round he scored for Clev that you are abdolutely convinced should have been Tony's?

I've got mixed feeling towards the article because even though ESB is biased towards Bellew and I think Cleverly edged a razor close fight, his criticism of the draw card 'denying' Cleverly an deserved unanimous victory is blatantly a load of bollocks.

 

I would say a 10-5 fight where he's never in trouble, yeah, it wasn't too difficult for him.

Leonard didn't look so flat footed in the early going.

From 7:20. Standard Leonard here, he was overall not the fighter you saw in the 2nd fight with Duran, but that's the performance that was necessary and it's a credit to Leonard he could employ that and have so much success against one of the greatest fighters of all time. In fact, he's employing lateral movement and not looking to stand his ground too much in the 1st, Duran cuts the distance nonetheless, Ray has to try and fire back. It sets the tone.

Exactly my point about Rays thinking in a fight. Evidently losing, he didn't do anything to stop Duran outhustling him. Or couldn't. Either Leonard was resigned to losing or he couldn't win. In real terms (not including the 3rd fight) they are 1-1 in competitive fights, which considering the level of opponent both men are for each other, is a more than respectable ledger to accumulate at Welterweight.

I cut out all the conspiracy theories from the second fight. It's not indicative of Duran as a fighter. It's indicative of Leonard as a fighter. He had to put in an exaggerated performance, but Duran was still clearly very good and Leonard made him opt out. That was how good he was.

In the first, Duran was the better boxer and the better infighter. That was how good he was.

Leonard said a lot before fights. The action suggests Duran was just the better man on that night.

 

My integrity means more to more than the fact I think Tony Bellew is sound. I scored it 114-114.

 

Ray Leonard is a better fighter than Roberto Duran, and made him quit in the second fight like a *****.

 

If you give all nine to clev yeah, Is that realistic? Bellew won 2,3,4 clear enough and 9 was it where clev took a round off.

Above his natural weight..? Did you see Roberto Duran in-between fights.? He didn't beat Ray Leonard soundly, if he beat him so soundly, it would of not been billed as one of the greatest fights of the 1980's.
