Here's a video of me doing strict form, shoulder width 30 pull ups (not chin ups) All of them are good straight form, no kipping except the last 2 or so as I was getting close to muscular failure. I'm 17 yrs old and 126 lbs. Sorry for the bad camera though! Any comments are welcome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j49rNThghs8
I could do about 20-25 chinups, about 10-15 pull-ups, Im 6'0 and a half and 195 pounds. Thats really good, but you must remember the fact your 126 pounds definitely makes it alot easier to pull that many out. How many one-handed chinups can you do? My personal best is 12, but right now I could probably only get about 7 out.
Pull ups are done slow and with control, notice the negative part of the exercise you did lot lower yourself, you basically allowed your body to drop and used the momentum for the next pull up, so cut that 30 in half and minus 5 Use control when doing exercises for the best benefits, it's not quantity but quality
I doubt that, I have a feeling you seen him do what alot of people do, go down about a heads worth then push there chin back up over the bar. If a guy 270 did 60 pullups all the way down, he must be one of the strongest men in the world and I would love to see a video of that.:yep
it was on tv, there were plenty of big guys doing high reps of pull ups. a man that wants something will find a way, the person who doesn't will find excuses.
Maybe, but he's also a huge roid head. I think the guys you are talking about are not going all the way down, alot of guys at the gym I used to go to would do 20-25 pullups, but they would only go maybe 50% of the way down, it's rare when I see someone do proper pull-up.
If you mean the 1 handed chin-ups while holding your wrist with your other arm than I can do about 20 of those before my grip starts to slip... Like I said I'm only 126 lbs but all muscle and I train for 5 years or so and there was a time when I couldn't do 1 pull up. So I really trained my strength. I was never a natural at pull ups because of my small weight like some people say "oh you're light so you can do more" I really packed some good useful muscles and when I flex my back it's twice the width of my waist. I also train my abs and chest/triceps with other excercises.
Yeah, thats still very impressive. Chinups especially, are harder to do more of when you weigh more. I gained alot of muscle weight over the years, and I still cant pump out as many chinups as I used to be able to do when I was 165. How tall are you by the way? Are you training for boxing?
Quality pull ups I do for strength. I can do 25 of slow and controlled pull ups. The video I was going as fast as I could to get to 30 for endurance.
I am 5' 5" and I'm not exactly training for boxing but I train like a boxer for fitness and self defense reasons, etc. With the pull ups and your weight, I think it shows how strong you are for your size really. If you're 200lbs and you can do 30 pull ups and if you're 126lbs and can do 30 pull ups. Obviously the 200lb men is STRONGER of the two BUT pound for pound they have the same pull up strength. That's what I think.
Whats with the message in the end, about the bullies? 30 pull ups is quite impressive, I can only do ~20 good ones. I don't do chin ups, and I only do wide-grip pull ups.
