During the Spanish telecast, it was said his nickname is "Hurricane". That's the most inappropriate nickname I can think of for this guy. I actually and literally fell asleep in round 10.
Much better technician than Darchinyan. Obviously Darchinyan is a more effective bantamweight because he has that power (and Narvaez doesn't) and the awkwardness that throws some people off. Somewhat better boxer than Montiel (though not by as wide a margin as with Vic). Again, Montiel has that equalizing power.
**** that the latter came to win and left nothing in the ring, they were gonna die trying or be the one killing... real warriors. Not no Little ***** trying to prove a point he is superior because he lasted... If Montiel and Donaire came with the same mentality they would have went the distance.. but nope they were to fight not ***** out..
LOL This is the reason for looking past the opponent before the fight gets done. Most of you people obviously thought this is an easy fight, Donaire though so as well. Now this is what you people get for looking past the opponent - a walk in the cake fight lol About your question, go ask yourself about it. But check this out - Rafael Concepcion lasted 12 rounds against Donaire and that fight was even closer than anybody Donaire fought including Narvaez'. He even put Donaire to the bicycle the whole night. Does that make Concepcion better than Montiel? Now think :good ok...?
If those 3 were to fight... Montiel vs Narvaez = Montiel UD Darchinyan vs Narvaez = Darchinyan UD Darchinyan vs Montiel = Brawl, could go either way by a KO.. So technically, Darchinyan and Montiel > Narvaez
He just shelled-out whole night but what's your basis for claiming Narvaez has no power in bantamweight?
I just assume that Narvaez will only protect himself for 12 rounds again.. I don't see him exchanging blows with either of the two..
Narvaez not known as power puncher at fly/super fly so he probably does not have enough power moreso at bantam.
If Montiel and Darchinyan came with the intention to merely survive the 12 they would've made it too.
If Darchinyan would've came with that mentality and not the arrogant one he had, he wouldn't have been the laughing stock highlight reel KO of the year. He went from fearsome fighter could be ATG status to a guy who just talks trash, relies on his power, and can't back it up when in adversity.
Educated guess based on it not being extraordinary at super flyweight. Adequate, but certainly not extraordinary. He doesn't hit like a bus at the lower weights; pretty safe to say he doesn't have anywhere near Darchinyan pop at bantam, wouldn't you say?
