Mundine and IBF ratings

    So just a few short weeks ago Mundine was the next rated contender at 160 in the IBF.

    After some media reports that Mundine was not interested in that at this stage he goes totally of the rader, no IBF rating at 160 or 154.

    Why? because he won't fight an eliminator aka pay the IBF, to challenge Geale, like the others. Boo ho. What a joke.

    They cannot say because he is a 154 fighter, they don't rate him there either. And this was before Mundine won ínterim title.

    If it was the IBO that did this rather than the IBF you'd have the standard responses from the usual sooks.

    Your right I didnt. There is allready enough Mundine he says she says around here.

    But it really is total political bullsh!t. He appears high in the ratings as soon as Geale wins the belt, but they leave the no1 ranking open, therefore no manditory. how convinient. So they can have their little box offs and pay sanctioning fees. They know Mundine is good for a headline so he is placed in a prime postion to have a hand picked eliminator, pay the IBF their nice little fee then set up for a Geale-Mundine II where everybody is happy. How bloody cosy.

    There not rankings they are ratings. IBF is as bad as the rest of them.

    I think you will find that the IBF dosnt rate any champions from other organisations. Im sure that is the policy. I may be wrong though. As soon as you win another belt you are dropped from there ratings.

    So in the IBF's eyes, Mundine has a legit world title?

    Even a "Interim Title" will remove you from all the major 4 belts ratings.
    Well it should...WBO if you didnt remember once rated a deceased boxer at Cruiserweight.

    Mundine was removed from all IBF ratings before winning the interim title.

    How do you go from being the next rated contender at 160 to not being rated at all without even having a fight?

    Your English has sure improved leaps & bounds since you started posting here Bettingman - and in such a short time too - ESB is obviously tremendously educational even for the challenged.

    Once you are scheduled to fight for a "interim" title your rating will be removed.

    Interesting to evaluate the ramifications of the Alvarez win:


    Positives:

    1/ Mundine is now Trout's mandatory challenger.


    Negatives:

    1/ Mundine won an 'interim' trinket that falls outside the WBA's own rulebook - there were no extenuating circumstances to even allow creation of it.

    2/ This 'interim' trinket is completely undefendable against any opponent under the WBA's rules - and falls below both the super champion Cotto, and regular champion, Trout.

    3/ No belt was presented after the bout - casting even more doubt on the trinket's legitimacy.

    4/ The win wipes Mundine off the rankings off the other divisions.


    In summary, what did Mundine win? The answer is the mandatory challenger position for the regular WBA title, nothing more.

    IF that is true then that is total rubbish.

    It is clearly more a case of Boxa didnt play ball with IBF so they wiped him.

    Far too much politics. The rankings should not be effected by business decisions.
