i actually think if it was 140, pac would blitz him. 147, still pac territory, too strong and still fast

and he has been in way too many wars for a 38-year-old LW trying to fight a dominant near-prime ww.

mosely claimshe "lost" three rounds after paq knocked him down

Marquez isn't completely shot. He's years past his best days, though, but still a good fighter.

you forgot that both manny and roach know it.

the longer this fight goes on the less chance jmm has.

i really see jmm having less than a 10 percent chance(possible cut or catches paq early) because what we are talking about is a 38-year-old LW here and the fact that paq is very motivated for this fight and not taking this fight lightly.

when was the last time we saw a lw or jww successful at the age of 38?

I would'nt give Marquez much of a chance either if I did'nt know that Marquez still has an enormous skill advantage over Pacquiao.

......people just dont realize the disparity in skill level between the two. Its sizeable.

I don't know what you were looking but the jmm that fought gayweather has been the slowest jmm I ever saw.

He was aiming to bulk up rather than be faster. He even showed videos of him throwing rocks at otoma mountain. The event was boxing, not shotpot. Entirely wrong form of exercise unless he was planning to do a dawson on gayweather.

    Those pictures mean approximately ****-squat.

There's a shitload of fighters (particularly white and mexican ones) who look a little soft before getting into training camp. It's just how their bodies naturally are. Some guys just are not ripped year-round.

I've seen JCC Jr walk into the gym while not in full training camp...you wouldn't even think the guy was a boxer. Some guys are just not naturally that way.

Having considered everything you said, what I'm expecting for Marquez then would be to weigh in about 2-6 lbs heavier than his usual/normal walk-around weight whilst Pacquiao comes in at pretty much the same weight as their last 2 (144-147 lbs).

If Marquez comes in at over 145 lbs, that's when I'd be worried that he might end up sluggish. I just hope you're right about Marquez's team strategy... that it'll work on their favor instead of against it.
Exactly why I don't get the reason as to why some would insist this to be at 140-142... unless that's their way of saying, "We want Pac [weakened and] dehydrated first (like in their last 2 fights), no way we'd want him to feel comfortable from the start of his training to the day of his weigh-in."
Agreed. If I may also quote JG's post from another thread...
I want this to be as exciting as their last 2 fights BUT with a clear winner this time. I don't think I'd want to see a one-sided fight.

i think Marquez just needs to find a weight that is comfortable

some say come in around 135 but at his age he probably has a hard time making 135 and why kill yourself to be light vs a guy who is gonna come in big and strong and accustomed to the weight

but i think at 144 or 145 he may be too bloated or slow kinda like how hatton was for Collazo and how Winky was for Hopkins

he should maybe weight 140, it shouldnt be too hard to make that and trying to bulk may not be the answer

i think if anything Marquez jsut needs to do what ever he can to replicate fight two

Wait until you turn 38 and you would wish to have half of that.

He is dong a sit-up and your stomach would normally look like that.

Look at tim Bradley. He looked like a roided boxer yet he can not punch. Duran looked a lot worse than that at 38.

He is out of shape on that picture. If you go to gym alot you see 40-50 year olds who look way more rip than that.
