Max is the worst commentator the boxing world has ever seen, he wasnt as annoying last night, but who knows what he will be like in next HBO PPV telecast. Max has nothing interesting to say and his interviews are the worst, he looks like he wants autograph from the fighters he interviews, instead of asking the questions the people want him to ask, something that made Larry a legend in most peoples opinion.
What puzzles me is, how did Max Kellerman get the job? He doesn't have a good voice, and doesn't have the right kind of personality to be a TV commentator. He's overtly biased in favor of the fighters he likes, and biased against those he dislikes.
The look in his eyes and the smile he had on his face yesterday interviewing Jones made me think he was about to bust a nut. He looked like a school boy who just sat on Santa's lap. Guy is a joke.
Larry Merchant TKO 9 Max Kellerman (Jay Nady 1: 53 Kellerman down 5th 8th twice in 9th) Max Kellerman SD Larry Merchant (115-113 117-111 113-115 Merchant down in 4th) Larry Merchant KO 12 Max Kellerman (Richard Bayless 2: 03 Merchant was behind on all cards)
I swear boxing fans are so ****ing gay, who gives a **** what his eyes looked like during an interview? The same people who are complaining about Floyd's "personality" I guess lol... Who else could step in and do a better job? I doubt Larry was flawless when he first started out...
HBO is that the best they can do, Kellerman? broadcast boxing is Max Kellerman the best man for the job,who made this decision!!!!!I usually have a ton of respect for HBO but this is the one of the few times I feel they made a mistake.
I liked when he mentioned that the belts were all meaningless. But yeah, he annoys me for the most part. Lamps shut him down bout Wlad when Lamps said Wlad would be recognized if he was from the USA, and Max's point about Roy not being willing to fight Darius all those years ago due to fears of bad decisions (a point he made to counter Lamps who mentioned Roy now says he is willing to travel for the ZAg fight) is weak. Those same fears of something going amiss are there, JOnes is simply in a more compromising position now. I would rather see somebody come on board that really had a great deal of insight into the sport as well as being someone who had a great deal of experience in the ring or at least as a trainer. Kellerman's spits facts out as insights and questions to make them sound intriguing but he really does't bring that much to the table. I can get enough "Max Kellerman" types in any boxing forum.
lmao @ Roy Jones Jr. being a better analyst than Max Kellerman. I swear the hate in this forum is palpable. Shameful
Kellerman better watch himself. He has already irked some fans with wild acquisitions that Roy Jones would have beaten Joe Frazier and Rocky Marciano. Kellerman doesnt know how to score a fight either. If Kellerman continues to bad mouth fighters who are winning, he will alienate himself from access and interviews. I like Kellerman in small doses when he uses his excitement, but he's awful when he injects his personal hip- hop opinions that reek of bias. Many of these opinions are wide open to counters. Im glad Lampley gave Kellerman a quick dose of verbal reality on air.
Kellerman is getting better. I still want him to try and smart off to a pscho boxer like how Larry does...I want to see this just so I can see him get beaten and raped on television. I miss OZ and that would help give me a fix.
Atlas is a reason to mute the televison too. His boxing breakdown is a joke: When the guy goes like this you go BAM! If he does this you go BOP! BOP! As if it's so easy. As if he's a trainer. If not for Many Steward making Moorer into a fighter, and Atlas getting lucky to catch training stint before title shot, he would be still trying to get work as an actor/choreographer in Hollywood. Which is what he was heading for at time.
I like watching the ESPN classic bouts, and hearing one announcer, who only talks when needed. Not three guys trying to make themselves part of the show.
