Get your **** out of Dempsey's ass and see him for what he is...A great fighter who accomplished nowhere near what Marciano did, nor what he was capable of. He ducked the two best fighters of his era, drew the color line, and had a few bad losses.

Your "Dempsey can do everything Marciano can plus more" is some of the biggest rubbish that has ever been said

One of my all time dream matchups. Dempseys quicker, sharper blows Vs The Rocks heavy, life-sapping punches. Both men are bullishly strong, and both men are fierce for the duration. Despite Dempsey fighting in a different era, even the most hardcore 'old time' dissenters must agree that the styles and men involved guarantees a competitive fight ensues here.

This fight would be a ****in' bloodbath. I wouldn't be surprised to see Marciano down early at all, I don't see him getting bludgeoned out in the opening stanza either, he always had his wits about him, when Archie Moore looked to follow up he couldn't get anything significant off, I don't see how bulldozing Marciano is a better way of going about the job either. He'd have to come through Hell here mind, but knew how to take the sting off of punches, and could collect himself quickly.

I don't see the prime Dempsey that beat Carpentier, Gibbons and Willard, being able to put it all together against Marciano. I just about favour Marciano to punch through Dempsey late, although I think it would be an unbelievable fight. Marciano was rarely the faster man in the ring, but he would find his way through the fight and pin his man down. The inside battle would be a joy to watch, but Marciano was a grinder who also packed a real wallop and I don't fancy Dempsey to accommodate him over 15.

I don't think anyone beats Marciano around this weight.

Well, he was a lot slower/fluid looking then in all fairness.

Still, low blow aside the hook that dropped Sharkey was a beaut'. So he clearly wasn't a complete joker by then. He was still with it for sure, in the 3 fights he had in that year he still looked a very good fighter IMO, in the way all great fighters look when they're a bit past their best.

Remember, somebody said they voted for Dempsey by accident.. so there might need to be a change there.

Get your balls out of rocky's purse and see him for what he is... A great fighter who accomplished more than jack did and arguably more than he was thought to be capable of. He ducked noone and didn't lose any fights.

You pretty much said exactly what i've been saying. Jack was great and didn't live up to his potential due to the colour line.

A lot of those who saw both in their prime believed the same.

Without a time machine we'll never know but you carry on getting honosexually invested in a hypothetical match up :good

This is too close, I might have to call it a draw to be fair to both fighters. Some people might not like this, but I got to cut off the polls at a certain point.

Fight is called a no contest when both boxers fall out of the ring after being tangled in a clinch with the referee attempting to separate them.

i think that's a good choice. anyone here that states one guy would dominate the other is full of it. they can split the all-time white heavyweight title. :good

Marciano wins by late stoppage in a great war.
