Alright, lads? I'm really excited to see Katsidis over here again and I hope he destroys Burns. He's my favourite active fighter and I've loved seeing him come over in the past, to smack our talent around. He's a genuine warrior and he does Australia proud in every fight. I did wonder though - Do you think Katsidis is past his best? I caught a bit of his last fight and he looked good, but I'm not sure about the quality of opponent. I expect him to beat Burns and if he does, do you think he can go on and pick up a world title? I'm not sure what to think of him at this stage. On one hand, he lost badly to both Marquez and Guerrero but on the other hand, he's had to deal with his brothers death and I thought the referee really hurt his chances against Guerrero. Anyway, I really hope he can pick up another British scalp when he steps into the ring with Burns, who is one of the worst world champions I've ever seen.
It is hard to say how many more wars Michael Katsidis has left in the tank. We will probably find out one way or the other because he is unlikely to ever take a backward step. I think he's got Ricky Burns covered. But guys like Katsidis who take so much punishment sometimes just fall off a cliff one day.
I'm with Spider on this one. Katsidis should beat Burns in a tough bout but I am concerned about how much punishment he has taken lately. Not sure how much can be left in the tank after so many wars/tough training camps.
Yeah, I agree, mate. When I saw him against Guerrero, I thought he was done but then, probably because I'm a Katsidis fan, I tell myself that the referee was biased, Guerrero is a very good southpaw etc.. Maybe I'm being too optimistic. I do think Katsidis on the form of his last fight, has enough to beat Burns though.
gurrero & burns are to different animals if burns tries to go toe to toe hes going out on his back, katz to strong, gurrero was a good mover boxer puncher, marquez we all know has all the tools but even he got shook up by kats. yes kats could fall of the cliff but i dont think its this fight. & opposition wise their not even close the calibre of oppents kats has laced up against & the experienced gained will carry him home by ko in 6,7 or 8.GO KATS. cheers guys
Guerrero was HUGE in the ring that night, kats isnt a small lightweight but guerrero dwarfed him. Weighed over 150 on fight night. And that was a guy coming up from feather? Hmmm.
This article says the winner to fight JMM if he stays in the LW division after he fights PAC. http://www.aus-boxing.com/2011/10/29/burns-katsidis-winner-to-get-marquez-shot/
