There are no IBF/ABC Unified rules!

There are IBF Rules and there are Unified ABC Rules. The IBF is a boxing organization. The ABC is the Association of Boxing Commissions which the Quebec Boxing Commission is one.

The problem is this:
a/ The ABC Referee Rules and Guidelines state this:
"The Timekeeper will ring the bell after the count and the Referee’s evaluation."

b/ The IBF rules state this:
The bell will not save a boxer in any round of the bout. If a boxer is "downed" just before the 3-minute bell in any round, the referee's count shall continue and the bell will not ring until the boxer rises and his hands clear the floor.

c/ The Unified ABC Rules of Boxing do not state anything about the situation.

You are saying the ref should have followed "a" when I don't think that is necessarily the case. He was following "b" and "c" as stated by the announcers.

The ref could not have restarted the fight, the fight was over. The bell should have rung when Bute stood up and raised his glove from the floor. It could very well be that timekeeper was following "a" and the ref was following "b".

"Cannot be saved by the bell" simply means the fighter can't be lying on the floor when the bout ends and still win. He has to get up.

Anyways, we can agree to disagree. The right thing was done and a rematch was made. And to Bute' credit, I don't believe it was required. Andrade did not protest.

 

There are always a certain number of non boxing fans who post on ESB and assume that prize fighters are the biggest liars on earth. That isn't going to change anytime soon.

 

Not at the end of the 12th round. What you post is valid for the first 11 rounds, not the 12th. Look, you can say what you want, the IBF studied the end of the fight and concluded that all the rules had been respected. More, they didn't ordered a rematch and the IBF is an organization following his rules in a very strict way. That's why Bute has shitty mandatory. They follow their rules.

 

I know Lucy was ill in the Andrade fight but the illness is just called glass jaw disease and Lucy also suffered from the same thing when midget Golovkin touched his glass chin too
it´s cureless.
The referee in the Andrade I fight was a disgrace from start to finish. Lucy would have never made it to the 12th round if the referee had not allowed him to hold all night and had not tried to literally prevent Andrade from throwing punches by intentionally cutting his ways of. Was it even a premeditated fraud then because they were aware of Lucys glass jaw disease?I know Lucy won the rematch, give him credit for. all i´m saying is Lucy is not undefeated.
Now as far as the Johnson fight is concerned Johnsons sugar punch is the overhand right. He executes that punch with a similar technique to what Bruce Lee has called the hammer principle. Unless you are way outside you get hit. Even if you are prepared you know what hes doing you still get hit with that punch because you don´t see it coming. Its a way superior weapon than Butes uppercut to the body because Lucys intention is visible a relative long time before he lands the punch. You he either steps in or turns over to create an angle then he throws the uppercut. its predictable thats why it will get taken away from him by a quality opponent. Moreover Lucy has next to no defense game. Hes a show mover, tries to stand narrowly and ain´t well balanced doing it thats. Theres never been a need to improve because he just was a lot stronger physically and more powerful than these guys hes fought anyway. Johnson is very different he knows what hes doing he is strong he applies pressure and he hunts you down and Lucy does not move well. Even weak ass cap driver Mendy was able to put him against the ropes. Johnson fights very well inside he puts his head on your chest punches the air out of your body if you try to hold he takes one of your arms and hits you with the other and does a lot more things. I know Johnson is 42 he moved down in weight he has to keep his weight down because of the second weigh in the morning of the fight theres a possibility that hes drained so much that Lucy who is possibly physically the strongest in the 168lbs division is just able to overpower him. No excuses if that happens i´m ready to eat some **** from you freaking nuthuggers but if Glen is fine and ready to go to work then the only way Lucy can win this fight is by fraud glass jaw disease in and out doesn´t really matter. We know that Lucy is a ducker joke. he got dropped by HBO because hes refused to fight anyone with a pulse, refused to fight Kessler. Instead he proclaimed joke fights as championship bouts beat up helpless street workers and cap drivers. The best opponent he fought in the past 3 years was Edison Miranda. There was just no way to hide from Johnson this time. So in short that are some of the reasons why i think Johnson wins this big. Beating up inferior opponents and looking good doing it is a completely different thing than actually fighting, overcoming difficulties finding ways to win and thats what we gonna see on Nov 5th

I don't follow you on this one. Bute is not the first fighter in boxing history to decide to make a fight even if his doctor didn't want to. In that particular case, it is normal that he got tired at the end of the fight, not at the beginning.

If you knew Bute as well as I do, you would have noticed right at the beginning of the fight that he was not as strong as usual (as I did when watching it live at the Bell Center). He was not himself. In the rematch, he was himself.

P.S. He didn't lose. He won the first match. You are the one having to move on on this, don't you think?

 

I still don't get why there's a debate. The ref actually followed the rules. Not only that, but Bute got up within 10 seconds, and there was like 6 seconds left to the round when he went down. And then he knocked Andrade out in 4 rounds in the rematch!
