Boxing fans in the U.S. including me, are searching for the next American heavyweight to become champ. ESB members know about Eddie Chambers and Kevin Johnson and others but let's go deeper. I'am talking fighters who are in their early 20's and who are undefeated. I'AM NOT SAYING THESE FIGHTERS WILL BE GREAT.

Marrone is never going to amount to anything
    Chapman is average
    haven't seen the other 2

Don't laugh but i think Jason Estrada will have a decent career if he gets his fat ass in shape

Eddie Chambers and Tony Thompson are our best hopes right now.
Chris Arreola I think is our best prospect.

I like the potential of this kids power, but his over all skill package is so raw at this point in his career. I'm not sold on his "talent potential" yet...but the few fights of his I've been lucky enough to watch have intrigued me.

As is evident from these lists, American heavyweights are bankrupt for at least the next decade. And the face-saving football excuse, that US commentators love to use, doesn't cut it either. Why? Because many countries have physical sports that are both popular and pay well (eg., Russia has hockey), so boxing in those countries also has to compete with these sports to garner talent.

Marrone and Chapman are garbage. Chapman might have a puncher's chance against a top guy, but that's about it, and even his power is overstated (see what Tua, Rossy and even Stiverne did to the guy he could only muster a UD against twice).

Most young American heavyweights seem reluctant to step up to a better level of opposition. JD Chapman is fighting Rich Boruff (BoxRec #524 heavyweight) on Feb 8. Kevin Johnson fought Greeley and Barnes in his last two fights. Malik Scott's opponents have not been highly ranked. I don't know why their managers are so reluctant to try them against some better journeymen.

Only Chambers and Arreola have been willing to face anyone.

I can see Eddie gettin a belt (maybe), but he will be like Chris Byrd havin a belt: Who gives a ****!! We won't be satisfied until there's another Tyson/Holyfield/Bowe/etc.. Somebody who blasts dudes out of there. KingPin might be our best hope right now to fit the bill. Areolla is quite good from what I've seen, but so damned ugly. **** it.

Although I've yet to see him fight, there is a bad ass coming up out of Georgia by the name of Brogdon that will be making big waves over the next couple years though.
