but, then, again, training for speed does work ask any sprinter or marathon runner. bruce lee use to train for speed by using proper throwing technique more like a snap rather than unloading. u see the best guys with speed like manny, he doesnt waste time throwing his punches, he throws his punches straight out like bruce lee does. his power is generated by his body's force into the punch and the use of his legs. guys who swing for the fences like haye, dont always generate extreme power. technique is everything

I always wondered how good Pep would have been if he didn't spend all his time at the track, in gin mills 'n chasing broads, c.

What I am saying is any physical attribute can be improved through training, but you can not create something from nothing. No amount of training will make Willie Pep hit like Sandy Saddler, and no amount of training with give George Foreman the hand speed of Ali. Could Pep hit a little harder if he trained specifically to do so? Absolutely. Would that increase translate into knockouts.... most likely not.

Funny thing is, c, Willie had 67 KO's (most likely from whiplash, being hammered like a woodpecker)

Yeah, I just quoted you. Obviously I was talking to that other guy that I didn't quote because that's what I do. I quote people's posts and respond to them directly when I'm aiming my points at someone else. Obviously.

65 ko's in 241 fights. Not what most would consider a puncher.
Although I would attribute that more to his style.

Interesting battle between a boxing trainer and a conditioner when both think they are right.
