I agree... timing negates speed. That being said, I still think its a mistake for Marquez to try and bulk up unless he can get a top quality nutritionist and fitness trainer like Shilstone or Ariza that will allow him to put on muscle without sacrificing speed and movement... drinking **** just ain't gonna cuttin it.

Well your in for a shock.

Hired an American College graduated by Texas AM's nutrition program which is up to date with all the recent training advances and nutrition tactics which have been applied to this fight. He has never trained this manner before and his training exercises are now up to date and he has many doctors and trainers this time to "gain weight properly without sacrificing speed" and a lot of professional advice to guide him.

No more Urine Therapy for Marquez, doctors/trainer have advised against it.

This is gonna be the best possible marquez, a 38 year old LW can be.

    Timing is the speed killer.

speed and timing. marquez is not a sloth either and has a good bit of speed. he is faster than 99% of the JLW and LW out there but of course relative to pac he is not faster. i hope his conditioning coach is doing it right in bulking up as to not lose his speed. even ariza said that it takes several fights for pac to gain that muscles properly.

Dose anybody know marquez's current weight.. I wonder if he's even at 144 yet, I agree he needs to bring his speed with him but he needs a little bit more power also to have pacs respect ..

If Marquez keeps his speed with the added muscles he will hit a lot harder then before (when he sits on his punches).
It's like a normal car and a truck hitting the same wall (a tree, another car or another truck....whatever) at the same speed. The truck will always do more damage because of the weight....It's easy physics...

JMM does not need to be faster than Pac, his timing is his best asset at this stage in his career.

All it takes is one punch & if JMM doesn't manage to land it this time, he never will. I'm pulling for JMM all the way...

Im rewatching some marquez fights tonight, I know start to get the feeling I am underrating him the whole time leading up to this fight.
If he hadnt lost to floyd at 146 before would he still be as big of an underdog as he is now? Does Marquez knowing pac trough and trough and often being written off then upsetting cause us to underrate him once again? or does it mean people overrate the current version of marquez?:think

I always thought Marquez' best attribute is his conditioning/stamina which enables him to execute his skills for the full 12 rounds.

If Freddie said that, thats indicating to me that light is where they prefer Marquez to be against Pacquiao.

If you look at there two fights, though there were knockdowns in two of the 24 rounds
Pacquiao was'nt able to overpower Marquez because Marquez was physically fit and within a few pounds of Pacquiao in the ring.

I really believe that Freddie would prefer Marquez come in light. If that were to occur, Pacquiao would have an all of the above advantage, speed, quickness, power, and strenghth.
The strenghth disparity in particular could overwhelm a lighter version of Marquez.

Pacquiao was'nt able to push Marquez around in either of those first two fight, the goal by Marquez is to ensure it stays that way.

IF you dont have the physical strenghth to absorb what Pacquiao dishes out, your conditioning/stamina will deplete in quicker fashion.
For the most part its why smaller fighters though more skilled, have a tough time going up in weight taking on bigger fighters.........well, that is unless you're a PED user that can bank and count on that extra reserve stamina he otherwise would not have.:deal

Marquez never relied on speed, it was hes timing and countering that gave Pac trouble.

Slow ass Marquez was able to land 2-3 shot combos on Pac.

Everyone looks slower than PAC. JMM's speed looks the same as he did before. Only this tine he is a bit stronger and bigger.
