i dont have a problem with anybody putting an argument why 1 man will win or whatever but this statement below is probably the worst statement i have heard on esb

gary barlow - take a bow

Ricky has never had that world level test yet

now mr barlow if you dont think that martinez was world level the you better start watching another sport because you dont have a clue about boxing

Please tell me what Martinez had done that showed he was a true world-class fighter?

^ He hasnt, looking at the recent match ups of the WBO super-featherweight belt on Boxrec and it is a sorry state of affairs looking at some of the fights that have been made.

currently watching the guerro vs katsidis fight...interesting that katsidis trainer keeps asking him to get into position to throw his bombs...katsidis cant get into the position to do that very much.

now thats down to 2 things

1, guerro is a southpaw and that why he cant get to his usual position to land ofter

    2. katsidis is beginning to fade and his come forward footwork is beginning to go....al la mike tyson...when he couldnt move forward fast enough it was over for him.

for those who can remember the fight what do you think it was???

It was mostly that Guerrero is just better than Katsidis. It's hard to say Michael had faded when he faced a guy who had a style that was always going to be tough for him, prime or not.

ok pabby, we are talking about posters saying ricky getting raped etc, if you think thats acceptable then who am I to argue. I never said EVERYONE hated Burns, but theres a lot of people here who do, & I know why, its hardly rocket science. If posters here think Burns loses, thats alright, I dont mind. were all grown ups.

HOWEVER, its the manner of it all, where Rickys being slaughtered constantly & people say they want Burns to lose badly cos of big bad Billy Nelson, gimme a ****in break:lol: At the end of the day, Billy is only the way he is cos people are constantly giving Burns dogs abuse. Thats the be all & end all of it.:deal

past his best, shot, its still excuse making. Kats always been beatable, to blame it on certain fights if Ricky pulls this off is a MASSIVE cop-out FFS, Katsidis lost to a guy who was schooled by Malignaggi:lol: Aye big monster that he is:-( put on ***** street by Graham earl, a guy Ricky Burns took to school at late notice, AYE big unbeatable monster Katsidis. "

Mask wearing monster Katsidis Brit ESB's new poster boy:D

It saddens me too to write like this about Kat, cos hes a good fighter & a cracking guy, I have no problems with the aussies, love 'em to bits.

    HOWEVER

When this forum starts to have the mother of all love-ins with Kat cos hes fighting a jock? when predictions of **** & murder are thrown around?
Of course my big scottish face is going to pop in & tell it like it is & put some noses out of joint & remind the casual readers that some people can actually think for themselves, cos Im sure deep down a lot of posters think Burns can pull it off inside the distance, they are just staying in with the brit ESB 'in crowd' incase they get shot down for not going with the flow.

    But enough of this seriousness.:nono

I love to end my posts on a high note, so...

Its going to be ****in hilarious when Burns pulls this one off, oh MAN Im gonna laugh here for weeks:lol: & the true Burns fans are all welcome to join me of course! who in their heart of hearts can blame me really after being slaughtered for daring to break the trend and admit that masked monster Katsidis could be beat inside the distance by a young hungry fit & not weight drained Ricky Burns?

Dont hate me for being me Pabby, there arent many brutally honest posters left here nowadays:deal

Leave the anti-Scot sentiment out of it. There's no such thing. The only people who have Scottish-English hang-ups are the Scots from my experience.

    This.

    I honestly couldn't give a **** if a fighter is English over Welsh/Scottish/Irish.

    Yep.

Essentially, if you eliminate it all that, the post was just an unfair dig at Juan Diaz, who ''casual readers'' should know was an A-class fighter in his prime, who was ruined by his war with Marquez.

Juan Diaz was one of my favourite fighters at that time. The Katsidis fight was full of great action from both men. That Diaz would have battered the sense out of Burns.

Out of interest, what super feather weights do you consider world class?

If Ricky has the sense not to go to war with Kats, he can win this IMO. Kats style is pretty crude and he can be outboxed. The trick is not getting pinned down. Marquez made his fight against Kats harder than he had to because he wanted to out tough Kats in a phone box (crazy Mexicans) which he eventually did (watched it again last night). Ricky has a good reach and decent ring craft which I think he can use to maintain his distance and eek out a decision. If he lets Kats dictate the fight he's ****ed though. I'm sure this will be a closer fight than most seem to think.

None. Guys like Fans and Broner are merely solid b-level types. Broner might be more than that. It's one of the weakest divisions in the sport.

    @Dunky

Sorry but 'your' boy is getting taken out. Barely 12 months ago this guy dropped Marquez and destroyed Kevin Mitchell (who is around the same level as Ricky).

You say he lost to a guy Malignaggi dominated? Malignaggi now, beats Burns at 140. Hell Juan Diaz now, beats Burns.

If it was any other fighter you would say he would get beat.

Imagine say John Smith was at 130 (and had an identical career to Burns). Would you back him to beat Katsidis because he UD'd Roman ****ing Martinez? No.

Burns has shown nothing over a whole career that suggests he beats Katsidis. The obvious fight to look at is Martinez; similar styles and all.

    Katsidis is a career LW
Kats has more power, strength, stamina, experience (at world level) and ring savvy than Martinez.

Now listen: Martinez still dropped Ricky, in his own backyard, in the first round!

What is a vastly superior fighter in EVERY department (with a similar style) going to do to Ricky?
