^^^ My tiny mind thinks that most people will agree that Penn is past his prime. I never said he was shot, that's laughable. I agree with everything else. My first and main point was about SIZE as you just wrote in your post, yet for some reason you went on to 'disagree' with that at first, probably so that you could call me a 'Penn apologist', only to come back and agree with the point I made a couple posts later.
An ATG who's not a WW and the level of hype I'm talking about is "He's going to kick GSP's ass!!!", which is boarderline ******ed. Since I picked Diaz I assume I'm buying my own hype then? BJ Penn is no WW period.
BJ is slightly past prime and slightly rocky confidence wise these days, but he's a million miles from shot and that was a great win for Diaz.
This is MMA you ******. Those losses were a minimum of five years ago. He was in his early 20s. Now he is entering his physical prime and he has markedly improved as a fighter. Those losses are basically irrelevant when it comes to what he brings to the cage now. Nick Diaz 2011 beats the **** outta Nick Diaz 2006. :hat
Bj penn lost because of a motivation problem.....nothing more. Anyone who has seen bjs last 5 fights easily predicted this one.
Diaz has NOT been in the game as long as Penn.... Penn has been in PRO MMA since 97 which made him a teen when he began fighting. He's older than Nick as it is and has been a pro longer. Diaz is no where near as shop worn as Penn no matter the years they've been pros. Diaz is by far in better condition than BJ has probably ever has been in. A lot of time BJ was working and operating on pure talent and lacked the dedication to training which has NEVER been a problem with Diaz.
Nard won the HW world title at 46 yet Roy Jones couldn't beat a unknown Crusier weight at the age of 42. Some fighters age better...some styles give a fighter more years than others.....more dedicated and cleaner fighters breath more life into their fight careers than those who aren't as healthy outside of training camps.
I think Penn did well... First round was definetly BJ Penn... 1st half of round two BJ was still on the game... either BJ Penn is still that good or Nick Diaz' boxing is way way way over rated..
