Well Lacy was hugely overrated and he was already shot when Jones caught him. Lebedev should have gotten a draw vs Huck and would have won that fight if it had been in Russia. Lebedev is prime and is a powerful southpaw. He isn't shot like Lacy was.
I'm not impressed by his power at all. His best knockouts are against fighters with VERY weak chins... Alexeev and Enzo. Enzo has a top ten worst chin in the sport and Alexeev isn't much better. Lebedev can whack but he's certainly not a monster power wise. Look at the Jones fight if you need proof of that.
No. First, the version of Lacy Jones fought was shot himself. Second, you're underrating the hell out of Lebedev. Third, Jones actually throws punches.
Jones... throws punches? He was not active at all in the Lebedev fight. Levedev wasn't terribly active himself. Saying I don't think much of Lebedev is like saying I don't think much of Barkley compared to an old Duran. Relatively speaking, I don't. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if a brain dead old Toney upset the best of the current crop of top cruisers.
eh Lacy was shot worse than Jones Lebedev isnt even shot like Lacy and he is not a crude brawler the fights arent even close
Lebedev will be quite happy to pund on an immobile Toney. And Toney will be quite happy to stand there and not move. More important, Toney is shot, Lebedev is not. I bet some of you thought Toney would win that MMA match too?
I agree that style-wise, Lebedev is just made for Toney. If Toney has anything left, he should beat Lebedev. BUT... I think it's too late for Toney now and that his handspeed and reflexes have deteriorated. Plus the huge weight-loss at age 43 may affect his physical strenght... The skills are still there but I fear Toney has lost the ability to use them to full effect. I hope I'm wrong.
I doubt he stops him or looks that good but I think in Russia he can take a split decision and will-that he's got enough natural skill leftover to beat this guy. This guy doesn't have anything on Jhirov as a fighter. Toney has just enough on left to squeak it out. It might be closer to Johnson/Green than Jones/Lacy.
:deal. Lebedev is still undefeated in my head and as you mentioned (the most important thing when you compare this to Jones-Lacy) Lebedev isnt shot yet, he is hungry and in his prime.
