What makes me mad is that dlh robbed the fan of a great fight. Versus chavez, mosley and all other of his opponents he came acting tough traded with them and won. And his fans were all over his dick but when for the first time he fights a guy that its as big as him. A fighter also in his prime he runs like a *****. If dlh fights like he always did this fight woulve been better than vargas vs tito. But instead everybody left disappointed of the so call fight of the millennium.

    :hat

I remember being buzzing about this fight man and watching it I felt well and truly short changed! The only other Oscar fight that i got this excited for was Mayweather!

I hated Oscar back in the day and thought his running away in the last rounds was disgraceful, but he earned enough rounds to take this along the lines of 7-5 or 8-4, and it's only because he spent the last three rounds running that it's that close.

Tito might have been walking forward, but he barely landed an effective punch all night long. Oscar should have won it.

Of course, he probably should have lost either Quartey, Sweet Pea, or both, so karma. Just like how after all the fights where he trashed older, smaller guys he eventually got whipped by a smaller guy he thought he could cherry pick.

    i have it 8-4 everytime,with tito getting 4,10,11,12

dlh's defense was superb and he was landing almost all the clean shots for the first 9 rounds.his combinations far outweighed tito's occasional body shot or straight right imo

anybody thinking tito was "walking him down" is delusional, oscar was giving him fits with his movement and very rarely went anywhere he didn't wanna go before round 10

impossible to give it to trinidad

Impossible yet 2 judges did and one called it all square! I watched it tonight with no sound and probably agreed with 6-5-1 Merchant. I was one of the people who would have sworn by 8-4 Oscar back then but the more I watch it the closer it gets! That being said I've still not found enough round for Trinidadian

    round 1
oscar circles trindad out of range with his gloves up, trinidad is the busier of the two fighters but is throwing single jabs and reaching in with them, oscar picks them off on his gloves. In the final minute oscar backs up trindidad without really throwing anything then with 30 secs to go throws a decent flurry were a short right lands nothing special but enough for him to nick the round
    10-9 oscar

    Round 2
Trinidad starts off far more aggressive throws a wide left hook 16 seconds in that oscar counters with a shorter left hook of his own. It develops into a jabbing match oscars jab is straighter and harder but trinidad has some brief moments of success especially when he throws the right cross behind it a nice left hook from trinidad with 40 secs to go he looks to land it again and throws a wide left hook that misses. Oscar finishes the round by letting his hands go and scores with two nice right crosses another close one but i gave it to oscar
    20-18 oscar

    Round 3
in the corner before the round trinidad is being treated for a bloody nose. Another tentative start from both men but 50 secs in trinidad lands a nice left hook oscar starts to have some success by doubling the jab throws a flurry two minutes in but there arm shots. A nice uppercut by oscar with 40 secs to go and another flurry of arm punches with about 20 secs left although he does land another short right just before the bell
another round for oscar tito is busier but he hasnt landed anything of substance yet
    30- 27 oscar

    round 4
trinidad starts aggressively throws a combination and lands a left hook to the side of oscars head as he backs away oscar stands his ground in the middle and throws his own combo but trinidad blocks it well. 2 minutes to go trinidad hrows a nice right and oscar loses his balance slightly with one minute to go oscar throws a nice left to the body and tito replies with a left upstairs
tito does a good job pressuring oscar in this round to take it by landing power shots oscar only really landed the jab
    39-37 oscar

    round 5
tito comes out with a big left hook to start the round oscar stands his ground a bit more and lands a great 1-2 de la hoya starts to circle again and lands his jab good combo from de la hoya just inside a minute to go in the round trinidad applies more pressure afterwards and backs oscar to the ropes but is unable to make him pay oscar throws another good flurry just before the end of the round
easiest round of the fight to score so far clearly oscars
    49-46 oscar

    round 6
oscar is the one who starts aggressive the time and throws a nice combo to the body trinidad replies upstairs but oscar throws a left right combo straight back at him trinidad starts to stalk him again but is reckless alowing oscar to land his right at will big round for de la hoya
    59-55 oscar

    round 7
trinidad applying pressure oscar jabbing off the back foot but trinidad appears able to close the range easier this round and oscar seems reluctant to let is hands go however trinidad is looking to load up on every shot and telegraphing them making it easy for delahoya to defend against the final 30 seconds dela hoya lets his hands go does enough to nick the round although trinidad lands a blow after the bell
    69-64oscar

    round 8
trinidad starts aggressively but misses with his shots with two minutes to go oscar backs to the ropes and trinidad is able to land oscar comes bak with a few flurries that trinidad catches on the gloves but he does sneek a short right in through titos guard. tito backs oscar to the ropes again he replies with a few hooks to the body the ref tells him to keep em up oscar lands a 1-2 to start the action again. trinidad gets him to the ropes agin and oscar throws a flurry of hooks to the body to get out of there trinidad lands two left with 20 seconds to go oscar flurries at the end of the round and tito tries to throw a big left after the bell again another round were oscar lands the better punches
    79- 73 oscar

    round 9
trinidad throws a left to the body to get the round going oscar complains it was low meets tinidad in the centre and throws a good combo backs off and then throws another good combo trinidad chases and lands a good shot of his own oscar has his back to the ropes more in this round allowing trinidad to land his shots oscar threw shots in the opening minute and last thirty seconds the rest was all trinidad pressure so a tito round
    88-83 oscar

    round 10
delahoya moving away again but he tends to just circle instead of going from side to side as he did earlier which allows tito to get closer and throw more shots tito seems to be winning the exchanges as oscar doesnt let his hands go enough although he lands a good combo to the body with seventy seconds to go in the final minute tito presses the action and oscar fires back but not enough to win the round another one for tito
    97-93 oscar

    round 11
oscar starts out moving but tito seems to be able to close the range easy and its almost a minute gone before oscar throws a punch back little lands for either fighter but its tito coming forward and oscar running so another tito round
    106-103

    round 12
oscar making no pretence of boxing this round he's on his bike trinidad lands two rights as oscar circles to his left to get away from titos left oscar makes a brief pretence at fighting as he throws a few arm shots in the last minute titos round
    115-113 oscar

for me it isnt really a robbery as oscar only won it by two points on my card and a few of the early feeling out rounds were close. also i feel oscar was on his toes all night it was part of his tactic to move just when he gassed after round 9 and tito took over the fight he was on his toes for survival as much as for gameplan he still deserved to win though as tito couldn't land anything on him in the first eight rounds it just isnt the robbery people make it out to be

It's pretty much impossible to credibly score this fight anything other than a win for DLH.

I managed to score it a draw once, but I wasn't being honest...

Hmm. I have the exactly opposite thought. I can give it a draw, but I'd probably be shortchanging Tito! Ppl having Dlh winning all first 9-10 rds are not ony delusional but disrespectful! I wish I still had it so I could break it down.... It's been a long time but I remember Tito winning always by at least 1 rd... Watch it again if u can with a nonbiased, clear mind, no volume!! Anyways, is good to see some ppl seeing it in better light after all the buzz, after all these years. Back in the day this would've been heresy. Tito won, get over it!!..... OR you could also ask DLH, who never really wanted a rematch... to the point that he even skipped his appointments for negotiations more than once, therefore like Papa Trini said, "missing the bus." :smooch

I have to agree. The fight was very entertaining. DLH boxed masterfully but he also hit him very hard shots. I can still remember those combinations- to the body, to the head... Imaging if we were talking about Mayweather, all he does is run and box. Don´t be so one sided haters. I haven´t seen anyone box like that in a while. Tito was bigger and stronger. Its only smart not to make it a brawl agains Tito.

Havent watched in years but I remember Oscar won 7-5 or 8-4. He gave away the fight by coasting at the end, people fail to realize that a difference in scoring one round (10-9 Tito instead of 10-9 Hoya) will change the scoring by two points. Wasn't this huge robbery that people make it out to be. The best I remember being able to give Trinidad was a draw.
