Can I first say, fair play to James Kirkland. I sat down with my old man a minute ago and said 'He'll get knocked down in about 20 seconds' as they came out for the first round, and he did, but I saw straight away that he was blocking a lot of the follow up barrage from the slowwwwwww Mexican, and that Angulo had blown his load. What transpired after that was an ace action round, and a clinical performance from Kirkland, who despite his poor chin, is a tough and skilled aggressive fighter still, as he was a few years ago when he picked up decent wins over Joel Julio and Brian Vera. But that first round was a great first round IMO. Anyone agree? Can I just apologise to Brandon Rios, who I said was a little Angulo a few weeks ago. A non weight-drained Rios would beat Angulo up, Brandon I'm sorry.
Angulo was horrid. Nice right hand to start, and then punches that a Zombie could evade. And then he turned into a Zombie. Horrific. But fair play to Kirkland nonetheless, and that first round was very dramatic if you not the best in terms of quality.
It was a very good round, Kirkland fought well but saying that Angulo was very poor in the rounds after. Iv'e done well in my predictions this weekend, I had Toney, Katsidis and Angulo to win atsch
I quite fancied Kirkland for this one... but as soon as he went down I thought we were seeing a repeat of his former fight with Ishida. Didn't expect what happened after though. Definitely up there with round of year, has to be. Saw a complete turn around.. the ref was all but ready to stop it when Angulo was piling on the pressure.
yeah I think so as well, I think Marquez-Concepcion should win this and FOTY but I wouldn't be too fussed if the other two were to nip it
I'm really happy for Kirkland, Both of them were willing to die. Both are like Katsidis in there mentality, Enjoy these guys while there around that's all i can say.
