Cotto is most peoples number 1 guy.. But hes on his way out, many think Lara and Canelo might be the next 2 guys... Molina,Trout,Kirkland are there too... But this match is almost pickem in my book... Im leaning towards Lara at this point,, but i wouldnt bet very close... At Canelos best i could see him pulling this out.
Yeah, although Canelo starts pretty slow so it might not even be too close early on. I can see Lara taking some extended "breaks" (he did so in both of his step-up challenges, against Molina and Williams) and letting Canelo into it with some good unanswered power punches and giving away rounds intermittently - but overall Lara would bank enough rounds to win with volume, accuracy and smoother boxing.
Alvarez would make easy work of Lara... Erislandy don't have the "Pop" to worry a fighter like Canelo.
None of Alvarez's recent opponents have had any "pop" whatsoever and they've ALL worried him to some extent (even if it was just making him look bad while still getting shut out).
I think you're right on the first part of the statement, but wrong on the second. I think Lara creates some drama with his big punches early. But he doesn't have the stamina to keep it up for twelve. I think Alavarez wins on activity, or more realistically, Lara loses on inactivity.
Like I said when I saw it initially when Jose Cotto hurt you you have a questionable chin. Also the way Alvarez coudln't take care of business against the lesser Hatton told me all I need to know about him.
Lara isnt a bomber but i think hes a strong puncher.. Definitely hits harder than anyone Canelo has fought... Rhodes was suppose to be a good puncher but didnt look like it against Canelo.. Do you really think Gomez or Little cotto hit harder than Lara? Lara has more skills than those 2 much bigger and yes hits much harder... Canelo better tighten up his defense in this one.
