I think groves should fight 5 times before the end of 2012 and then consider going onto the world stage, I dont see why people rush the careers of boxers so much, IMO you should have had minimum 20 fights before you get to the world stage, obviously it depends on the boxer and the division though
:yep Groves would benefit more if he had a few fights against good opposition as opposed to 5 fights against opponents he won't learn from. He could be in with Stieglitz before his 20th fight, which is winnable. Gevor then Brinkley. Pryor Jr would be another decent opponent to test Groves, take him the distance etc.
I think a couple of ten rounders would do Groves a fair bit of good, provided the opposition is right of course. With Allegedly only retaining control of his UK rights, Booth has pretty much a free reign as to what direction to move him. Just because he's got the European doesn't mean DeGale is ahead of Groves at all, in fact I'd say Groves is a fair bit ahead in terms of his development. There's been three of what I'd call ''learning'' fights - the one on the Valuev card against the limited hardcase, then in Vegas and Anderson. DeGale hasn't really had any, bashing up Euro fighters, then Horton before getting the shot at Smith. It'll all come out in the wash, if it hasn't already.
Groves and Degale need another 4-6 fights before they are ready for big names in the division. Guys like Bika and Johnson at this time batter both of them.
I dont think the Anderson fight is a step back, plus it gives George the chance to win the lonsdale outright.
I think all of those guys are a bit too much at this time. Even though Lacy has lost to a journeyman now, He can still punch and has alot of experience Brian Vera is also a good match up for Groves at this time. Someone noted R Reid who would possibly be a very easy fight for Groves at this time. Still its a fight that would sell
It would definately be an interesting match up but I would favour DeGale. Groves beat DeGale with great foot movement, that I dont think Anderson has. I think DeGale would outbox Anderson and possibly force a late stoppage
Whilst all true, if Groves does want the Lonsdale outright, its more than likely he'll face Anderson again, the other options for British title fights just aren't going to improve or challenge Groves enough (unless he gets in with Magee).
Well if Groves that confident give him a rematch and in my opinion a different result due to the fact he will have plenty notice and will be super fit and will be far to strong for groves
