This is going to fall slightly into the catogory of a conspiricy theory but seeing Franks reaction to the first KD of Smith the other day got me thinking (wow should have really stuck a comma or two in there). Degale will be on a minimum fee per fight. Early in his career Valdermort will have taken a big financial hit on this as he will clearly be paying him far more than a novice fighter would normally be getting for say his first 8 fights. One major way He who must not be named can start to balance this up is by getting the commonwealth and more importantly the British titles. These titles significantly improve the television money these fights can command. Now when Degale lost to the Saintly ginger one at the O2 this will have decreased in a big way his earning potential with the T.V. This is why HWMNBN'd suddenly conjoured up a most unlikely European title shot for his golden boy (I'm sure this will have involved a favour called in somewhere). This gets Degale back some extra earning power (on top of the whole Gold Medal draw obviously). Now the Euro shot didn't come about till after HWMNBN'd signed Groves and probably did not seem likely after Degales loss. I think HWMNBN'd knew it was highly unlikely that Booth/Groves would agree to an immediate re-match or even a re-match within say 3 fights. All the time he would be losing big money on Degale/ Thinking ahead as HWMNBN'd always does I think he plotted a way in which Degale could regain his belts. I think HWMNBN'd truly believed that Smith would knock Groves out. You could see that he utterly felt Degale under-performed against Groves as opposed to Degale losing to the better fighter. All the pre Groves Smith talk was about if Smith won him getting the re-match with Degale. Thus ****** builds the Degale Smith re-match and Degale supposedly easily gets his titles back without the need for protracted discussions with Booth about a re-match. Then again I may have just had one to many beers, but it has been making me wonder why he did it ever since he signed Groves!!!
Does anyone other than Smith really rate Smith? The guys got a big mouth and will never be able to hold a candle to Groves
Still find it funny, Groves and Booth working with a guy who just slags them off in the press whenever he gets the chance! He even had a pop at Haye in the press conference in front of them.
Groves has publicly admitted that HWMNBN'd has agreed that a rematch won't happen anytime soon. I think the only reason he was so upset with what happened to Smith was because Smith is a big draw in Scumerpool, Smith getting iced like he did means he has a long road back to title contention or at least he should and as such could affect possible future sales - just an opinion that one.

That was exactly my point with them not having a re-match. I think ****** truly believed Smith would win and was planning for Degale to regain his titles via SMith.
I think you're probably overcomplicating. The simplest theory is usually the best and all that. George Groves is a good fighter, and a reasonably marketable one. Paul Smith was also one of his fighters, and a decent ticket seller, and got sparked badly which probably ends him.
I think its all abit strange why Groves went to ******... :think At the end of the Day he keeps making Degale look bad, im glad groves did a number on Smith because in all fairness its Groves who should of been going for that european belt not degale..
