Hope not, its ****in pointless really. There's no way as a new world champ Burns should be going into a fight with someone where he'd be about 1/10 with the bookies, that's how much of a mismatch this would be. Limond is ranked No.73 by boxrec and Crolla 52. That is not a world title eliminator, wuldn't put it past Fwank though I'm not even sure Limond will get past Crolla anyway, so let's just hope he doesn't and we won't have to watch this travesty.
If he's going to have an easy defence (which he will, probably more than 1) I'd rather they were against British lads than obscure Africans/Norwegian midgets.
I'd settle for Rees, but its not acceptable to start fighting people not even in the top 50 for world titles again, he caught a LOT of **** for it last time round, and it won't be any different this time. I'd hoped that Ricky and Billy as well had realised this, and he was really going to kick on again. If this fight happens its back to square one again with everyone saying its a **** defence, while Billy tries his best to justify it even though he knows its a joke fight, and it wasn't his decision. Take on someone inside the top 20 and then move onto the big fights, that's what I'd like to see. An easy defense is more than acceptable after saturday, regressing to British title level however is not.
Everyones been on the bad side of a ref or a decision, it happens in this business. He would need to beat Crolla and another highly ranked opponent to make a viable challenger for Rickster.
I dont think this fight would do Burns any good. I think hes shown he performs at a much higher level against better performances. Would love to see the JMM fight made but i think it will be Mitchell next for Ricky.
I think Limond will beat Crolla but it's clear to most people that he'd be handily beaten by Burns, and there's no reason for them to fight unless Willie can legitimately get himself into a position to challenge for the title. He already got destroyed by Erik Morales he doesn't deserve another undeserved title shot; if that makes sense!
