cotto has never been received by a mass audience at the airport like tito, he's victories never been celebrated with elaborated fireworks like tito. sad to see a great warrior like cotto toward the end of his career and he never gained full acceptance over here.

people in P.R hated Oscar and that's why it was such a big deal at that time

now, people hate antonio wayyyyy more. people went crazy when mosley destroyed him

expect a big welcome for cotto if he Ko's margarito

    war cotto :bbb

It would not happen to be as big as Tito. If he had beat Pac then maybe.

Does it matter?... I think some of you are underestimating how wild the crowd is going to be at MSG. Especially if he wins. Tito was loved by everybody but those were different times, and PR is def not the same.

this. i dont think its even so much the fighting spirit or style, because Cotto has been very entertaining and has had vulnerabilities that make people want to root for him, however, its the differences in personalities. I believe Cotto likes it that way, he has always said after all he fights for himself and has nothing to prove to anyone. Its kind of hard to win a whole country over when you say those types of things.even though he kind of has a point, he is just a very no BS straight shooter type of person. history has shown that when you are out of the game and your old, broke and hurting, no one is there to give you a hand. You have to look out for yourself at the end of the day, both physically and financially.

So what happens if he loses again? Will there still be a lot of PR's waiting for him at the airport? If not, you guys are just a bunch of bandwagon fans not willing to ride the highs and lows of your fighter. No wonder Cotto is so aloof. He only sees leeches hanging on when he wins and no one is around when he loses.

Wouldnt be suprised if that happend actually. I remember after Segura KTFO Calderon, alot of the boricuas here pretty much abandoned him and started calling him a quitter and the likes of that.

Ya need to quit reaching....That **** happens to boxers of ALL nationalities. I seriously doubt there was a caravan of supporters waiting for Morales at the airport after Pac whoop him.

Ohh and Calderon is like 137 years old(eddie murphy voice) the fact it took segura how many rounds to get him out of there is laughable...then they put him in a phone booth for the rematch... stop flattering yaselfs.

No way, tito never got on his roller skates like cotto did against Pacquiao. Don't forget he quit against a mexican.

^^ You never hear us mexicans call Morales a quitter after the 3rd Pac fight.

And funny how y'all claim Calderon is old as **** when Segura beat him, but when JuanMa beat an even older Rafa Marquez, y'all were all bragging about how great of a win it was.

Who is "Y'all" stop generalizing like we are all of the same opinion. Calderon was old before Segura beat him, I actually like Segura he seems like a really humble dedicated kid. Marquez made juanma look horrible even in defeat, he confirmed Juanma was a KO waiting to happen. i have no problem giving props to my mexican brothers, the fact a fighter is puertorican doesnt exempt them in my mind from being a **** boxer(juanma).
