    Which guy is Harry Greb? The uncoordinated one or the spastic?

    I don't think the man in the dark shorts is the greatest boxer of all time. I say that with some conviction.

    But you can look at his record and see that he beat some quality fighters. Only guy to ever beat Gene Tunney.

    Plus, the stories on Greb and what hes doing there in sparring don't really match up.

    He holds the record for most fight fought in a year, a record which will never be broken.

    Theres a lot of decent fighters on his record who you can watch footage of.

    Greb is a mystery. Simple as that.

    There is some, though not a great amount. There is nothing at all of greb in a competitive match up

    If nobody today has seen Greb how can he be accurately assesed? TS is just trying to impress everybody by mentioning a pre-TV boxer.

    He can't. But like I said before, there are some good fighters that he beat who you can watch. He had to have been good to beat some of them. Gene Tunney beat Jack Dempsey for example and the only guy to beat Tunney was Greb.

    Part of the legend is how huge the HW division was at that time and the fact that Greb was a small fighter who hung with HWs. Thats not all he did of course, but its a big part of it.

    I understood it. You did use the word "rumors".

    Greb holds some records and has a lot of fights. It's obvious he possessed some skills but;

    No way does Greb top Sugar Ray.

    To be fair, if you read some descriptions of Grebs style, I suppose he could be considered spastic. I don't care for that description myself.

    Even if it's sparring, there must have been a purpose, maybe to test something; but whatever it was it sure didn't look effective, he barely managed to land anything short of a couple of jabs. Decent head movement, but when he got inside he got nailed 3 or 4 times.

    Interesting shadow boxing.

    At first when I saw the video below I chalked it up to the video being glued together from pieces because of the time, but perhaps partial seconds only went up to .30 before moving up to the next second.
    Anyway, Grebs punching here is also something of note because he primarily uses upper body mechanics to punch, which is contrary to modern conventional wisdom a large portion of the power is generated from the legs (obviously we can't see the legs but we can infer from the angle that he's punching)
